Tatu has a rustic and charming atmosphere, quite in contrast to its more trendy neighbour. Not a very long menu, but the thai curry chicken tasted excellent when it finally arrived. Reasonably priced also, makes it a good choice.

Lovely local staff and some great food. I'm always made to feel really welcome when I drop by and the staff seem to make a point of getting to know people, especially those of us that are here for the long haul!

During my visit in September 2013 to this amazing island I've come across Tatu restaurant where I've ordered freshly squeezed granadilla juice. THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD. I was so impressed and decided to come back a few days later. When I arrived an ordered a drink the friendly waiter advised me that they don't have. I was so sad... More

Tatu was closed for a while but now back refurbished with new management and an excellent new menu. There is an extensive and good wine and cocktail list all reasonably priced. The restaurant has been refurbished and upgraded and is very inviting - particularly the terrace overlooking the sea. The food was excellent - we had red Thai chicken curry,... More

Tatu was closed for a while, but it is now back open with a new menu - reasonably priced, delicious food... What more can you ask for? Happy hour(s) from 5pm-7pm with beers costing 3000tsh, and a glass of wine 4000tsh. Sports on TV for those who like to watch while drinking, and friendly staff! Top tip: my friends kep... More

After stumbling across Tatu during the day, we decided to head there that evening to to check it out further. Although the location isn't perfect for sunset views, we had a lovely evening filled with beautiful food and wine. We dined on the top floor and all the food we were served was very tasty.

Excellent views and a great idea for a "stacked" restaurant on the three levels. Each has a different focus, including the sports bar part, great for rugby games. This is great to divide the uses and reduce annoyance if you don't want the noise. Food can be good, but service is slow as, and often menu items are not in... More

Zanzibar is no place for drinkers, and even when you find a place to hoist a few don't be surprised at the meager selection. The bartender here tried his best, but he should stay with opening bottles of Kilimanjaro.
