We ate there last night after reading many reviews on trip advisor but went back to the hotel disappointed. The food is overpriced and considering Stone Town's closeness to the sea, the catch of the day was fishy and not so fresh. Very average food for a high price.

During a recent visit to Stone Town we had lunch here. It was a little bit of a walk from the centre of town but do able. It was well worth it!! Lovely place for lunch, great pizza and sitting in the garden outside you could imagine you are anywhere in the world 😎

Pretty much right next to Haile Selassie school hidden behind a wall of hedges is La Taverna. A little gem of a hideaway from the hustle and bustle of Creek Road. This place is well decorated with a good selection of drinks and a menu of mostly Italian favourites. The service is very polite and attentive. La Taverna is know... More

We have now eaten at La Taverna a few times and have found their pizzas to be consistently very good! The staff are friendly and helpful. We had an error on a take away order where the wrong pizzas were made and the owner kindly corrected the mistake and only charged us for the cheaper pizza made in error. We... More

I like the setting of La Taverna a lot! It is tucked away, actually right next to a main road of which you can not hear anything. They have a great selection of mostly Italian food. I have eaten here twice and had a Pizza and a burger. The Pizza was crispy and delicious whereas the burger was OK. Always... More

I went to La Taverna twice for lunch and it was an excellent experience. The food is delicious and a good choice of Italian dishes (I am Italian), pizza is extremely good, and the service and staff is nice, friendly, and welcoming. The environment is cozy and very clean. It is located in the center, walking distance from the market... More

Me and my family went to La Taverna after reading from tripadvisor when in Zanzibar. Expectations were fully met. After almost 10 days of rather crappy resort food, this was exactly what we needed. We ordered for 3 pizzas and a lasagna and all were impressive. I'm Italian, and I must say that I probably had in la Taverna one... More

Had read great things about this place, sadly the food didn't reach expectations this time. Pasta Amatriciana was greasy and salty, the sauce very thin and Parmesan cheese added in the kitchen quite stingy. The plus point was the service; for the waiter, Haji, nothing was too much trouble. Attentive without being overbearing and always with a smile. Would go... More

Loved the ambience and the pizzas here. The staff was really friendly always smiling the place had a great vibe. However did not like the tomato sauce veg pasta. But over all was a good experience.
