Dinner in Stonetown next to the shoreline

One of the restaurants to absolutely try in Stonetown. Great typical food of the region. Waiter was not the friendliest, maybe because my wife wore a blouse with shoulder exposed. Nonetheless I would go back, and only a short walk from Maru Maru hotel where we stayed.

Seated under a bouganvila covering outside right next to the road, it is very atmospheric and offers very good and reasonably priced food. Staff very helpful, ask for Mtahiti.

The food served was nothing like what was asked for. The whole thing felt like a scam. The atmosphere and the decor inside was ok, but the chef needs to wake up a little.

Tourist beware - is what the name loosely translates to. Food is fine and service is very good - but the owners decided that ripping off tourist at every opportunity will make them money. They claim to accept foreign currency only to rip you off badly on the exchange after an already overpriced meal. Shame on them!

The Monsoon was recommended to us by the guide on our afternoon Stone Town tour. It was only a few hundred yards from our hotel, and it saved us having to think for ourselves, so we went there. We didn't eat in the large indoor salon, reckoning that our backs might not cope well with a meal taken sitting on... More

We sat outside (in the February heat, where else?). We ordered fish and lobster Both were very tasty and the African style vegetables served with the dishes were great - we'd go back there if we're ever in Zanzibar again.

What a lovely experience after a hot morning walking through Stone Town: cold beer, warm and friendly service and great food. When in Zanzibar, go and enjoy excellent hospitality!

We had a nice lunch experience and we will be back again. The service was good. We had 4 meals and they were all excellent. Everything was cooked and seasoned just right. The spiced coffee & Kashata were delightful. Nice location near the ocean and park but I wish the staff was more diligent to keep the hawkers at bay.... More

We arrived about 12:30 pm. Only one other table was in use outdoors. The three best tables sported "reserved" signs. When I asked if we could have one of those, the mirthless waiter told me, "No." I went inside to use the lavatory and in hopes of stumbling across an employee who might lend the slightest glimmer of a smile....
