Monsoon is a great location - near the water - and has great food. Main courses come with several different vegetables. (During our visit, they were okra, spinach, and chickpeas.) We had the stuffed eggplant and the octopus, and both were delicious.

Zanzibar, and Stone Town specially, is home to surprisingly good restaurants. The swahili food blends in very nicely with western tastes. In the Monsoon, one finds the best of the local cuisine in a beautiful tiny place in the heart of Stone Town, very close to the Sultan' s Palace. This is the first place I would recommend for a... We were very fortunate to have been treated to an evening at Monsoon. The food was excellent (grilled fish and rock lobster can definitely be recommended) and the atmosphere was really great. They make an effort to introduce the customer to traditional Zanzibar hospitality, not just in the food but also in the seating arrangements - the large indoor room... More

Two dishes for vegans. Good food and great atmosphere. Music most nights. You can either sit outside which I prefer or on cushions inside where the music is.

We came here in the off season so it was not busy. This did mean the service was good. We were welcomed warmly and taken to our tabke. You sit on the floor here but there are ample cushions. Be warned u will be asked to take your shoes off. Our menus arrived and drinks order taken. Once our food... More

We stopped here for lunch , had a shandy and ordered a couple of dishes ...quick service. Lovely seafood salad and prawn fajitas with chapatis....delicious, full of fruits and spices. Very reasonable prices.

Food was average to poor. I have definitely had nicer food in stone town. The service was so slow - it took over an hour to be served food and then without any cutlery. I had to eventually flag someone down to start eating. Altogether a poor experience.

They have a very nice veranda and the table I wanted to sit at sat 3 people and despite the fact that I was the only person in the entire restaurant the staff wouldn't let me sit there. Very strange I thought! The service just wasn't friendly in the slightest but the prawn curry was actually really good and this... More

We really enjoyed this place - it has a nice ambiance. It was fun to sit on big cushions on the floor with a low decorated wooden table, brass light fixtures on a warm yellow wall and eat some very nice sea food. If you don't want to sit inside, there are tables on the deck outside overlooking the water... More
