Very enjoyable lunch experience

We had a nice lunch experience and we will be back again. The service was good. We had 4 meals and they were all excellent. Everything was cooked and seasoned just right. The spiced coffee & Kashata were delightful. Nice location near the ocean and park but I wish the staff was more diligent to... read more

We arrived about 12:30 pm. Only one other table was in use outdoors. The three best tables sported "reserved" signs. When I asked if we could have one of those, the mirthless waiter told me, "No." I went inside to use the lavatory and in hopes of stumbling across an employee who might lend the slightest glimmer of a smile.... We had dinner at the Monsoon after it had been recommended by other travelers (who loved the prawns). The service was perfunctory, not sure the waiter was entirely interested in our custom. The meal was adequate for the price but nothing outstanding. The location was quite good and it was interesting to watch the world go by, however, being close... More

There was only 2 other tables the night we dined but the waiter was abrupt(not rude but very short which is unusual for zanzibar) The food was ok but not spectacular and would not fine there again plenty of good restaurants to choose from in Stone Town

Our last dinner on Zanzibar was at the Monsoon restaurant. We already had a very good lunch meal during the day and we came back for the Taraab music performance. Food was well prepared and plates looked very nice. There's a wide range of dishes and the staff was friendly.

If you are dining at this Stone Town favourite make sure you go on a Wednesday or Saturday night to enjoy a local Taarab performance from 7:30-9:30pm. Whilst kicking off your shoes and relaxing on cushions the talented drummer, violinist and lovely singer created a unique atmosphere that made the two hours fly by. The food was a little on... More

First time had a great evening, local music which was excellent along with a very tasty meal fresh fish and proper Swahili cuisine veg. Two days later same fish, obviously two days old, deep fried to a crisp, veg tasteless, no love, what a shame. Outside had fumes of cars and extractor fan, but could hear the waves. Inside very... We had lunch at monsoon and had a good time outside since the heat was high inside. (1400) Service was good, not the fastest but ok. The food we ate was really good and i would probably eat at Monsoon again if i could.

Cringingly attracted by how busy the place was, rather than by any reviews (if it's busy it's good right...?)..service was dreadful...if it's busy it's not particularly good right.....order was mixed up, Swahili prawn curry redeemed an otherwise 'look harder for something better' venue for a rather frustrating lunch*

Stumbled upon this our first night, exhausted and hungry. It didn't disappoint. We ate outside at tables and chairs but inside looked more fun; eating traditionally on the floor.
