This place used to call Emerson & Green but was closed. Since a while they are completely redecorating the place and as of 15 July... the place is open again. Only the restaurant and the top floor is done, the rest is still under construction but I can assure you we had a superb experience! Excellent service, super food and... More

No visit to Zanzibar is complete without visiting the Tower Top Restaurant for a meal. The views are spectacular - the bell towers, the steeples, the Indian Ocean, the Stone Town labyrinth below - as you gaze upon the world's crossroads from above. Equally as impressive is the food and the service. My wife and I are amateur foodies, and... More

First comment: Make sure you're at the right place - this is easy to confuse with Emerson Spice restaurant which has rave reviews. You'll soon realise it's not. We knew where we were, but it would be easy to confuse them if you walked in. Setting: Roof top restaurant with great views. Tables of floor cushion seating. Very atmospheric. Tastefully... More

The service was poor not because the two guys who were working the bar and restaurant were not trying but because how can 2 people (and actually only one - the waiter) serve 30 people. The bar tender brought the occasionally drink out when the waiter told him but basically it was 1 man serving and cleaning up after 30... More

We made a last minute booking for an overnight stay in Stone Town and were lucky enough to find ourselves at Emerson & Green, also known as 236 Hurumzi. After settling in to our huge and grand rooms - shutters, stained glass and enormous net-shrouded four-poster beds, we went up to await friends at the pleasantly cool and breezy Tower... More

We stayed 2 nights at Emerson & Green. The breakfast here is lovely, nice buffet of fresh fruit, pancakes, homemade jams and the best poached eggs i've eaten in Africa. This is one of the longest standing restaurants for a typical Stone Town experience of live Taarab music over-looking the city with great sea-views, it has all the old-world romance... More

The food at the Rooftop restaurant was amazing. Since we were staying for 3 nights, the chef made changed to the dinner menu to provide us with more variety. On Saturday nights a signer came to entertain the dinners.

We had heard by word of mouth that this would be an excellent restaurant to celebrate my 50th birthday. And it certainly was very special indeed. From the moment we walked through the doors we were impressed by the professional conduct of the staff at this charming hotel. The exclusive restaurant towers majestically over the roof tops of Stone Town... More

After the long climb up about 6 flights of steps, the view and food was worth it. According to our waiter, this place is now under new management and with a new name. He explained the history of the building and tower and we settle in for one of the best meals that I have had since arriving in Tanzania... More

We did not eat here and so I can not comment on the food. We just had a drink and watched the sunset. I actually wish we had got here earlier so I could have enjoyed the scenery for longer. Stonetown is an amazing and diverse city. I really enjoy walking around their little winding streets, but to get above... More
