5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013 NEW

We visited Archipelago for lunch and were shocked to find out they don't serve beer! But we could bring it in and the waiter helpfully pointed out where we could buy some. We ordered avocado salad, tuna with mango salsa, and vegetable coconut curry. The food was excellent - one of best meals in Zanzibar. The fish was cooked really... More

I ate at Archipelago on the advice of the owner of the Clove Hotel (also a great place to stay) and I returned because the service was excellent, the food fresh, it has a great view and catches a nice breeze and it has the amazing bungo juice! I ate the prawns twice as well as the young grilled squid... More

Consistently good food over the years and well run. The cafe is on the first floor and is an open like a balcony along the front, allowing views of the sea and small boats and a breeze. Good seafood meals or tasty cakes and barista made coffees. Can BYO wine or beer.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review us. We are not trying to do anything fancy - just provide simple, clean consistent experience. It's lovely to be appreciated for this! More

The restaurant caters exclusively to tourists and the food is ok at best. But the staff is very friendly and the breeze on the second floor veranda is very refreshing.

This restaurant has the same menu as Cafe Foro in Forodani Park. Also same breakfast options as Stone Town Cafe. The coffees and desserts are exceptional. The portions are large and the service excellent and fast enough that a decent lunch will not take a 2 or 3 hour chunk out of your day!

Everything is average. So is the ambiance despite the ocean view. The service is not particularly prompt. The food is bland. Prices are average. Nothing really to talk about. Eat and forget.

Slow but friendly service (my friend and I were able to play 3 complete games of Yahtzee while we waited). I ordered the shrimp rice and it was pretty bland. Also, there were no sides--it was just a heaping plate of bland rice and prawns. Other restaurants had much better flavor for similar (or cheaper) prices.

PLUS - good food at reasonable price - great coffee - great view - friendly staff - free internet - clean toilets MINUS ( only 1 I could think of!) - Noise level from the boats below sometimes too much
