A fun place to stop for lunch or a drink in the evening

My wife and I went to Mercury's Restaurant and it was a fun place to spend a rainy afternoon while the clouds cleared. Our friend recommended the octopus soup because of it's purported healing powers, but I would stay away from it. All of the other food was adequate. The service was relatively... read more

The terrible service and arrogant manner stop me from visiting this place again or recommend it to any travelers. There are tons of restaurants and bars further down the road near Fort and Palace that have great sunset view, music and food. Mercury is the last place I would consider. My friend and I grabbed a drink there last night... More

I had gone there with family, and we all loved the food. The curries were great, and the portions were good. We had a table overlooking the sea, and it was nice sitting in the dim light and watching the waves come in. The live music was full of pep and you are encouraged to dance if you feel like... More

Need to get away from the hustle of all day shopping in Stone Town, quick drink when you get off the ferry or just to admire a beautiful Zanzibar sunset... Mercury's is the place for you.

This is a great restaurant on the beach which has an extensive menu catering for both western and local fare. Sells wine by the glass!

We arrived near the end of the lunch time rush. Despite there being only a few other diners there, we had to specifically call the waiter over to take our order. A few minutes after placing the order, I was told I could not have my choice (a chicken dish) as their was not enough chicken left. On enquiring I... More

This was one of my favorite restaurants, seems venue is not well maintained. Sea food dishes are not bad. Piza is not so good as before.

I had lunch at Mercury House and I would not say I will particularly remember this place. I nonetheless rated it as poor as it is of bad quality compared to alternative places. I much enjoyed eating Zanzibarian pizzas and Chawarmas along seaside from local street merchants, which are cheaper and tastier options. Why you should not go there: -... More

Would not recommend this restaurant, the place is quite dirty and a very long wait for the food (45 minutes at least for our main course) The portions were not good, we ordered 2 mixed grills and were told that there wasn't any chicken left, the lamb chops had very little meat on them and the beef sausage was just... I was so looking forward to eating at Mercury. What a disappointment. Once seated, we waiting for half an hour to get a waiter to come take our drinks order, which never came. Failing to get a waiters attention, I had to walk around to get a waiter to serve us. When the food finally arrived about an hour later,... More
