this is a lovely garden to sit and enjoy the view of the Indian Ocean. No one bother tourists too much and I enjoyed walking in the area. Early on Sunday I went for a long walk, was very peaceful and quiet.

Food seems a bit over-priced for what it is. All a bit frantic as well. The barracuda was good. Go with plenty of small notes as change seems to be rather a hit and miss affair and you must be strong to get it!! All rather fun at the end of the day if you keep your sense of humour.

The descriptions of Forodhani Gardens in guide books suggests an eating wonderland. 20 or so vendors each offering street food. Unfortunately, the executions is 16 vendors offereing exactly the same thinkg (skewers of fish, shellfish, octopus, meat or chicken as well as potatoes, breat andn corn) and a few offering Zanzibar "pizza." The food is tastey enough for reheated skewers... More

The food Market at the Forodhani Gardens is definitely a must visit when in Stone Town. If you are one of those people who get impressed easily don't go there before the sunset, you would probably not be able to eat after you see the quantity of flies on the food!! :P You must be courageous and give it a... We always think we are only going to have a look around and go out for dinner, but end up being enticed by all the amazing food up for grabs and filling up with fresh seafood, zanzibar pizzas and fresh sugar cane juice.

My husband is a foodie, me not so much, but I was impressed! The atmosphere (its right by the ocean), the local families out to enjoy the evening, and the wonderful food make for a fun evening. Their special type of Pizza is a must try. As well as the 'Mix'. Also the food is not very expensive. You will... More

The variety was fantastic and our daughter had recommended the best stalls. The Zanzibar pizza was amazing, I had mango, peanut butter and Nutella - great. Bad - being hassled by sellers

If you want to go somewhere to soak up the local atmosphere, this is probably it, second to the local fish / meat markets in Stone Town. That said, unless you have a very strong stomach you are probably best avoiding the local food on offer as there are swarms of flies everywhere, plenty of feral-looking cats and the food... More

My wife and I visited Forodhani gardens after reading some of the reviews here and thought it might be an entertaining market similar to some of the night markets offering food in Vancouver. We were approached by a man who spoke almost flawless English inviting us to come try the foods at his shop. All of the vendors had similar... More
