This restaurant is now part of the Doubletree Hilton complex, but has kept its name. The other day we had lunch in this pretty restaurant. The food was excellent, the prices affordable, and the staff pleasant and customer-friendly. A definite must-try!

A beautifully decorated restaurant (in the boutique hotel above, although of course you don't need to be a resident to eat here), with the most friendly and attentive staff. The coconut crabmeat soup, served in a huge hollowed-out coconut and accompanied by crab-claws, was quite simply one of the best dishes I've ever had.

Stayed for 1 night with friends before leaving Zanzibar. We came without a reservation and were welcomed and shown rooms. We were given a reasonable rate, especially for Stone Town. The rooms were spacious and had a lovely Zanzibar/Arabic feel. We ended up having a wonderful dinner at the hotel as well. The meal was delicious and the service excellent.... More

Had dinner there after a disastrous outing to the Fordohani market, we were welcomed by cold beer (and cold frosty glasses) ,a nice cool airconditioned interior and a friendly smile. Great central location just a few meters from seafront opposite a lovely little park. We had only one dish each ,so could not comment on the full menu , but... More

We wanted to come here for a meal having read previous good Trip Advisor reviews. We went for a meal on a Sunday evening and we were the only people in there initially, normally this would have put us off but we did go in. The meal was superb and the service excellent and we soon forgot we were in... More

A lovely and peaceful restaurant, with decent to good courses. I've had the Crab Mille-Feuilles (Layers of fried eggplant with crab and mango) which was remarkable, a Snapper with mango which was nice, and beef and chicken skewers that were OK.

We were in Stone Town at the end of September, 2013 and had a fabulous meal at this restaurant. The place was quiet, small, cozy and friendly. I didn't realize it had been closed. I believe the new name is Beyt al Salamm. It is right across from the Serena Zanzibar. If we are talking about the same restaurant, the... More

If you are after some great local food, this is the place to be. Looks a bit dump but all that is rewarded by the great authentic dishes. Shared a plate of chicken pilau and fish biriyani and would always go back there again..

Looks like the building is being re-done. Too bad, sounded like a good place. Not even sure it will re-open under same name.
