Great food at reasonable prices and way better than any grand baie eateries. Non pretentious and genuinely passionate food. Avoid le Capitan and eat here instead.

During our holiday to Mauritius we have been to almost 10 different restauarants. In the coming days I will do my best to review all 9 restaurants we have been to. But if I should start with one restaurant, then 1974 is the one. Unique setting, amazing fresh food and in one word - delicious. The very best Mauritius as... More

Best Italian food on the island of Mauritius. They don't have a menu card - everything is recommended by Antonio and Julia. In order to try starter, main dish and desert you have to be very hungry. So make your choice carefully... Everything is excellent.

Don't expect a menu, it's all in the Chef's head. Fun to visit and good food but evenings are better as the sun belts in during the day, also the traffic is noisier in the day

Slightly out of Trou aux biche on the coast road, but only about 5mins walk from traffic lights. A nice little family run restaurant. No written menu, just a lverbal list, so listen carefully. Actually worked quite well getting my wife to make an un characteristic spontaneous quick choice. Very nice tuna carpaccio, followed by a home made crab cannelloni.... More

Well worth the walk from the Beachcomber hotel to sample the delights of 1974. It's a smallish restaurant so make sure you book ahead. However once you are there it's a real treat. Antonio & Giulia clearly know what they are doing with Italian cuisine and combine their experience with the local seafood available. Beautifully cooked tuna steak with homemade... More

Been a few times to 1974 and each it surprises me in a positive way. The food is direct from the Amalfi coast and Capri. The food and value 10 out of 10 no menu Antonio and Giulia explain the daily specials which depend what's available in the market that day. Try it you won't be disappointed.
