The discovery of this hidden gem in Mauritius has been a life changing experience! There is nothing I could write of this restaurant that would come close to explaining the amazing food and all round perfect experience. Since its discovery my man and I frequent 1974 as often as possible- we just cannot get enough! Perfection.

No menu on offer - the owner explains the dishes of the day which is a nice touch. The food was tasty and service was good. Pasta a bit too al dente for my liking but that is personal preference.

Great food, nice host! They basically don't have a fixed menu but propose various dishes based on their fresh ingredients of that day, which they than prepare exactly to your liking. Nice atmosphere too. One side note, the location on the map of Tripadvisor is (at least when writing this review) incorrect, making it more difficult to find, while it... More

We have had the pleasure of dining at 1974 on a number of occasions and always find the food, service and value for money superb. Whether it's a weekend lazy lunch or a evening dinner, it's a great spot to relax, take in the gentle buzz and enjoy great, authentic Italian food and wine. We'll be returning shortly!

What a delicious meal. I would have eaten every single thing the owner Giulia described to us for starters and main course, and then when she told us it could be adjusted according to individual preferences it made the task even harder! My starter of fish ball was absolutely gorgeous, rich arrabiata sauce being a perfect match for the really... More

We had supper here twice in the week we spent in Trou-aux-Biches. The food is fresh and interesting, but unpretentious. Giulia came to explain the menu of the day to us, as they have no set menu. She was more than willing to modify dishes according to our tastes and made helpful suggestions. Very highly recommended.

We visited as a family group of 5 adults and 3 children to celebrate the birthday of one of the children. We had been staying at a nearby resort. Giulia had been very helpful in accommodating our requirements and talked us through a compresehensive array of authentic Italian dishes which could be prepared from local ingredients and home-made pasta, ricotta... Great food at reasonable prices and way better than any grand baie eateries. Non pretentious and genuinely passionate food. Avoid le Capitan and eat here instead.

Best Italian food on the island of Mauritius. They don't have a menu card - everything is recommended by Antonio and Julia. In order to try starter, main dish and desert you have to be very hungry. So make your choice carefully... Everything is excellent.
