authentic, home-made Italian

Only decent place we could find in Utica (we hate chain restaurants). Joey's is small, family owned and operated and the food was good. We went there for our pre-Boilermaker 15K carbo-load and had no complaints. Make a reservation on Boilermaker weekend.

Possibly the most authentic Italian restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Old fashioned restaurant complete with tin ceilings. Excellent food and we try to visit any time we visit Central New York. Everything is good here. The only challenge was we had what must have been a brand new waitress as we had to keep reminding here... More

These fresh raised oysters are absolutely fantastic. You have to eat them on the premises but it is worth the time and absolutely wonderful. It is so worth the trip. Plus the pizza is terrific too- thin crust!!!

Joey's is a neighborhood restaurant. Locals know where to eat. Owner/server Tess's menu has the usual choices, but the twist they put on their specials are really unique. Portobello mushrooms and Italian sausage in a cream-tomato sauce over agnolotti was to die for. We've gone to a dozen restaurants every time drive from the Adirondacks to Utica for jazz or... More

We walked in the door & knew by the smell that the food would be good! There is a front room & back room. The front was full & very crowded. We chose the back room to eat in, much quieter! Our waitress was very attentive & accomadating. My party reported the garlic bread brought prior to dinner tasted like... More

I went with my local family for a family dinner. Everything was delicious from the bread to the appetizers to the main course. The portions are large, so you have to be very hungry, take a doggy bag or split a meal. I highly recommend this place.

Not fancy...kind of vintage/old school Italian. Not fancy but food is AWESOME!! Best greens and beans I've ever had. Five star chicken parm and the chicken riggies- WOW delicious. Service was very good and prices were cheap!!! Great for foodies who appreciate REAL Italian food

JOEY'S RESTAURANT is, as many tripadvisor reviewers have already pointed out, an East Utica Italian walk down Memory Lane, complete with tin ceiling, old photos of people like Frank Sinatra, and a big dark bar. The regular menu is marvelous and the daily specials board only adds to the embarrassment of old-school riches on offer. There is even tripe, if... More
