Overall good but not perfect !

We were seduced by the great reviews. The overall experience was good. The garlic bread was superb. Wine selection excellent. Pasta primavera was good. The famous chocolate cake lived up to its reputation. The gnocchi pasta is completely avoidable and the marinara sauce watery. Service was warm and... read more

Best lobster ravioli in vodka sauce I have ever had! Memorable veal saltimbucca. Unbelievable chocolate cake--really! Friendly staff. Excellent service. Neighborhood feel. We were just going through Utica on our way from Seattle to NH. What a find! We'll be back!

My family and I were en route to Boston with a layover in Albany. Normally we would grab dinner at the hotel, but we got a late start and made a last minute decision to see what we could find in Utica. We stumbled upon Joey's which was fantastic. So cheap and so good. This place out-italianed the places we... More

My wife and I dined here after visiting the zoo and the Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute. We had read the reviews on Trip Advisor and we're looking forward to our very first experience with chicken riggies. As other reviews have stated, do not be fooled by the exterior. This is a really good neighborhood Italian restaurant. We got there... More

Only decent place we could find in Utica (we hate chain restaurants). Joey's is small, family owned and operated and the food was good. We went there for our pre-Boilermaker 15K carbo-load and had no complaints. Make a reservation on Boilermaker weekend.

Possibly the most authentic Italian restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Old fashioned restaurant complete with tin ceilings. Excellent food and we try to visit any time we visit Central New York. Everything is good here. The only challenge was we had what must have been a brand new waitress as we had to keep reminding here... More

These fresh raised oysters are absolutely fantastic. You have to eat them on the premises but it is worth the time and absolutely wonderful. It is so worth the trip. Plus the pizza is terrific too- thin crust!!!

Joey's is a neighborhood restaurant. Locals know where to eat. Owner/server Tess's menu has the usual choices, but the twist they put on their specials are really unique. Portobello mushrooms and Italian sausage in a cream-tomato sauce over agnolotti was to die for. We've gone to a dozen restaurants every time drive from the Adirondacks to Utica for jazz or... More

We walked in the door & knew by the smell that the food would be good! There is a front room & back room. The front was full & very crowded. We chose the back room to eat in, much quieter! Our waitress was very attentive & accomadating. My party reported the garlic bread brought prior to dinner tasted like... More

I went with my local family for a family dinner. Everything was delicious from the bread to the appetizers to the main course. The portions are large, so you have to be very hungry, take a doggy bag or split a meal. I highly recommend this place.
