A great contemporary American bistro

Hazelnut Kitchen has reached new heights after a bit of a catch-up period when ownership changed 3 years ago. But tonight's dinner was superb. My wife and I recently dined at the Hazelnut Kitchen (reservation needed). We thoroughly enjoyed our meal from appetizer, main course and desert. All courses were innovative, fresh from local farms and especially loved the homemade ice creams for desert. The atmosphere is casual and servers were all genuine and efficient. Recommend to all.

Wonderful food and service. It was full when we arrived but the hostess was very friendly and said our table was still occupied but it would be ready for soon. We waited about 5 minutes then enjoyed the lovely fare

Recommended by our bread and breakfast, the Juniperhill, it was so good we came back two nights in a row. The second night we were fortunate enough to sit at the bar and watch the chef in action. He and his associates were great, and the food was marvelous. We recommend this restaurant highly.

In a word, confusing. Everyone in Ithaca has told me how amazing Hazelnut Kitchen is and that you simply must pay it a visit. After 8 months of hearing this, I finally gave in and made the drive up the west bank of the lake to Trumansburg. The route is very scenic; be sure to stop along the lakeshore and... More

We've been visiting the well established Hazelnut Kitchen since it was a diner! Well, since it was Kostrub's anyway, a glorified news stand. Now, four owners later, it is a sophisticated, informal restaurant, focused on locally produced food, wine, and cider -- the best the Finger Lakes has to offer. We enjoyed a meal with four friends last evening, and... More

Food, drink, service. All good. Many locally grown vegetables and meats on the menu; "farm to table". Service is excellent. The menu varies frequently due to the calibre of chef and use of local ingredients. There's no question: this is one of the finest restaurants in the Ithaca area.

You know that a restaurant is doing the right things and attracting clientele when it is busy enough on a Monday night of a long weekend that, not only was a reservation necessary, the best time available was 8:00 at night. This in a town that was otherwise very quiet. The restaurant features a long list of local suppliers( including... More

Went for their Valentine's special menu. My wife and son had the bean and kale soup, which was delicious. Hard to describe the flavors which were slightly tomato-y with a little tang that almost seems Asian. Beans were delicious. I had a wonderful sautéed mushroom, arugula, creamy goat cheese, cartelized onion dish. Wow, this was amazing. The flavors really worked... More
