The kind of place you tell your best friends about

LoPorto's is a hidden gem in Troy. The outside is unassuming, a small dark door on 4th street. Inside is an intimate bistro and bar of the old-school Italian style. Michael LoPorto himself is often there and always ready with a welcoming word (in either English or Italian). The food, in the... read more

This restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but once you walk through the door it brings you back in time to what an authentic, old-style Italian restaurant looked like. The wooden bar is large and gorgeous. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. The owner, Mike, spends his time cooking the food and occasionally comes out to greet... More

The food was excellent. The location is quaint. The atmosphere is definitely Italian. But again the food was excellent. Service was also very good. Enjoyed!

Visited an old high school buddy who told me to meet him at here. I drove by it at first since it has an unassuming fascia in a sleepy neighborhood. When I entered it was quite different than I expected. This linen tablecloth and napkin restaurant has a lovely dinning room d comfortable tables for bar dining as well. The... More

It certainly was not the first time that we dined at Lo Porto and found it an absolutely satisfying experience. Their pasta sauce is second to none, their veal dishes super and seafood combinations fresh and generous, Their mega portions mean that your taste buds are in for another treat a day or two later. My husband and I went... More

There was a lot of food. The pasta that came with my meal (to my surprise) was very ordinary, linguini with a tomato sauce. The picata sauce on the chicken was unusual and very tasty, but the mashed potatoes and mixed veg were standard. Good for filling up an RPI student!

We enjoyed our meals but found the seating similar to a cafe where coffee and pastries are all thats on the table. However, in spite of watching the perimeter of our table so as not spill anything, the staff were menu knowledgable, professional, and the atmosphere is pleasantly decorated giving an old Italy feel.

This is my go to place when the family is together for that special meal. Family owned and operated, the owner has always been present (and available to chat) each time that I have dined in this establishment. Almost everything is prepared fresh and this is evident both in the presentation and taste. Their veal dishes are outstanding and they... More

Was excited to go here with my boyfriend after reading some good reviews but we both ended up very disappointed. Service: There was only one other couple in the restaurant and the service was still terrible. We waited over 20 minutes for the bill at the end of our meal.. and I believe that we were falsely charged items because... More
