They put out a ton of delicious food for their lunch special (I think it's $8 for the buffet), including never ending fresh naan and rice pudding. A really great place to go with an SO or a friend or two. Would not take a big party here, it's tiny.

The price is right at $7.99 buffet. There is a wide variety of dishes including chicken and lamb. There is always a pile of hot nan on its way out of the kitchen. Easy parking on the street.

You can depend on shalimars to give you decent indian/pak food. Its not really that good compared to true cuisine. Lunch is the only meal that gives you bang for your buck with the lunch buffets. They serve you the same stuff for dinner at 13 bucks a plate. Dinner is too expensive for what it is. Lunch is just... More

I've tried this restaurant twice. They tried to pass off Chicken Tikka Masala using leftover Tandoor Chicken with the signature bright red color, and it was not only stupid but just didn't taste very fresh (I had takeout and discovered this after arriving home). The other time they did not add any spice and tried to say that all Americans... More

We had several dishes. Basically, I would say that the naan, pappadum and samosas were not fresh or as hot or as light as they could have been and the meats were fatty. The ambiance was lackluster and we would never return.

I've eaten at the Shalimar in Troy a number of times and have found the food consistently good. The lunch buffet is popular, and I used to go a lot. For about the cost of an entree, you can have unlimited plates of 6-7 dishes, plus salad, nan, relishes and dessert. Frankly, I stopped going because I no longer eat... More

Shalimar's is a small restaurant and is packed at lunch for their buffet. With so many people, I was afraid I'd be lost in the shuffle, but I was thrilled to receive attentive, personal service. The buffet only has about 6 - 8 offerings but they are all very tasty. The Naan is constantly refilled and hot and fresh. Ingredients... More

I like this place....a lot. So much that when given the choise a few years ago for my 5 year aniversary luncheon that my job would picking up the tab for.....out of any restaurant in the Capital District in any price range....I picked Shalimar. Why? Cuz I LIKE it. And when my manager (who had lived in India for a... More

This is a tiny place on Fulton Street in Troy - street parking was readily available on a Sunday night when we went. Tried the Rogan Josh - lamb was cooked to perfection. Basmati rice side was ample. Also had the baingan bhartha - eggplant and peas cooked in a tomato-based sauce - excellent! The mango lassi was also good.... More
