Huge fan of Finnbar's!

We love going to Finnbar's! The food does take a while, but they also warn you right on the table. It's authentic as it can be, and they treat it as such. The food is worth the wait! They have many beers to try as well.

Went with my wife and asked to sit outside. The have what they call a back patio. Its an alleyway with a stockade fence up. The real problem is they allow SMOKING. Listen i dont care how you feel about the politics, there is NO SMOKING in restaurants and PUBLIC areas in NY period end of convo. If i was... More

We asked to be seated outside. Outside (back) patio is no more than an alleyway with high walls where they allow smoking. This is NYS and there IS NO SMOKING IN RESTAURANTS AND PUBLIC PLACES. We asked to be seated out front where it is less claustrophobic. I was informed and saw that smoking is allowed there as well. We... More

We ordered the cottage pie in the "Irish" establishment and waited an hour for it to arrive at the table. What came was stringy, tough meat floating in a thin gravy heavily scented with tarragon topped with four swirls of dry mashed potatoes. Absolutely inedible. Served alongside was a oily piece of "Irish " bread too hard and crunchy to... More

We used to love Holmes and Watson before it turned into a terrible restaurant and closed down. I'm so glad that Finnbar's Pub has taken the place of the old Holmes & Watson. The menu here is great; lots of good comfort food, and good attention to detail. Lots of homemade touches to menu items. And the beer selection is... More

My wife and I visited Finnbar's recently. We were impressed by the draft beer selection, about 32 microbreweries represented and I don't believe a single mass-produced yellow lager. The menu didn't have a large selection but it had some interesting items. I had a cottage pie which consisted of brisket beef (same cut of meat as corned beef but not... More

there are so many great places in troy, but this place should be at the top of your list. We stopped in recently on a Saturday afternoon for a great late lunch! The menu is full of awesome comfort food taken up a notch with better, fresher ingredients. As with many places in troy this place has a great history,... More

Stopped by for a quick bite. Friendly atmosphere, and decent food. Service is friendly but slow. They have a great patio, but the night I was there, it was snowing. Walking in the neighborhood was lovely with the lights, the snow - looked like Christmas in March.

I had a corned beef sandwich and beer. The service was excellent and it has a small town feel to it. The prices are on par with this type of place. Good spot for Irish beer lovers

You can never go wrong here - the food is always delicious - traditional options with a new twist at a low price. The ingredients are fresh, menu items innovative and they charge a fraction of what they could. Add to that friendly and welcoming staff, a great selection of beer and a pretty cool historic building. The mac and... More
