We had been to Equus in the past (not recently) and were looking forward to celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately we were disappointed. It used to be an elegant place for special occasions. I know times have changed, but some of the guests were in really casual clothes, not "business casual." While the web site suggested it wasn't appropriate... More

Equus is a place that markets itself as a high-end restaurant with prices to match. Unfortunately the quality of the food gets nowhere close to the image projected. It's tough to isolate individual problems, but the overall effect is one of boring, unimaginative cooking, delivered with little flavor or panache. The best part of the meal I had was the... More

I would place the meal on the worst of Westchester, if not worst of New York, and I have lived in NYC for 15 years. honestly, stale bread was followed by a long wait for a decent appetizer. Another long wait was experienced for an inedible cod / chorizo combo that, while sounding interesting, was served like a corn dog... More

My husband and I took two French friends here as part of a going away lunch (on a Saturday). Lunch doesn't seem to be that busy for reservations, but call several weeks in advance if you are wanting a reservation during the holiday season for dinner, which is when they seem to be busiest. When you arrive, if you do... More

...But the food could have been as bold as the castle where it was presented. We arrived ahead of our party and enjoyed drinks on the terrace overlooking the manicured grounds and life-sized chess board. The castle is impressive with tons of stone and lush surroundings. Drinks were large and tasty. There are two seating areas: inside in a darkish,... More

The restaurant is beautiful, located in an authentic 1800 castle. We sat in the Garden Room, which was lovely. The service was excellent, the food presentation was excellent, but the food preparation did not follow suit. I would even hesitate to rate the food as average.

I am stunned by all of the positive reviews. This meal was mediocre and overpriced. I don't mind paying a good amount of money for food; my husband and I dine out at fine restaurants every week, but I expect good food and value for my money. This place delivered neither. I ordered the prawns with uni sauce as an... More

As a local, there are many places I like to go to really take in the beauty of the Tarrytown Area. Although this restaurant is pricey, a nice glass of wine and sunset does me just fine to enjoy this place. There aren't many places on the hill in tarrytown that give you a view and are open to the... More

Dined here with a group of co-workers as part of a business meeting. We had the library as a private dining room. First, the Castle Hotel and the overall location are incredible. The building and grounds are extremely well kept. It is located up in the hills among lots of trees. Really nice location. We had cocktails outside of the... More

The "Castle" setting for this restaurant is well worth the trip out to Tarrytown. The brunch menu was delicious. Would be a great place for drinks on the lawn. Service was very slow and left quite a bit to be desired, lots of people, little organization. In all fairness they had an outdoor wedding that day and the weather was... More
