Was one of our favorite restaurants, very unfortunate they have closed, they always had the best veal in town and always very interesting specials to choose from

The following was sent out today from owner Kevin Gentile: Gentile's Restaurant @Gentiles313 "We are sad to announce Gentile's has closed. We thank you for your patronage over the years. We'll continue to cater 4 u so stay in touch!" It is a shame. This used to be an excellent restaurant. Things changed when they moved to a bigger location.... More

Kevin Gentile is a brilliant chef and his restaurant is one of the best in the area, if not all of upstate NY. His menu has unique creations that could cause you to overeat, from the bread served after arrival to the last crumb of dessert. Everything is special and quite delicious. His regional Italian recipes are both all you... More

We have eaten here several times and I am not certain I want to share but want the restaurant to stay around for a long time, so bring on the patrons! You start with fruit infused water, a variety of homemade breads, a garbanzo bean paste, house infused olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I could have dined on that alone.... More

We have eaten at Gentile's several times. I like most of the food, but in the quest to be creative, sometimes dishes fall short. I also don't like that you can never get any 'favorites' there like you can in other restaurants because it is always changing. I loved the crab dip and the calamari, but the recipe changes frequently... More

I've eaten at Gentiles three times, the last being the best experience by far. We went with a group of four on a Friday night and It wasn't particularly crowded, which was nice. Our server was awesome, very attentive and friendly as well as informative. Everyone loved their own meal and we all couldn't stop raving about tasting each other's... More

We have eaten at Gentiles several times, both before and after they moved to the current location. On all of these occasions, the food has been excellent. The service, however, has been quite erratic. In terms of the food, Gentiles has an eclectic Italian menu. None of the dishes are straight-forward Italian classics, and most contain ingredients (i.e. foie gras,... More

We have been going up to Syracuse for many years and never found a restaurant worth returning to...until now. We were 2 groups up for graduation. A little snag with our reservation and a lapse in service (the table seated 20 minutes after us managed to finish dinner 1/2 hour before us) were the only demerits. Loved the atmosphere, appy's... Took a large group and, perhaps it should be expected, some folks were very happy and others were not impressed at all. As for me, my food was great and the service was good. I guess it is good that the guy paying the check enjoyed it! According to members of the group, some items were served cold - perhaps... More

It had been a few years -- for no particular reason -- since we'd visited Gentile's, so this was our first look at the new location. The very nice building, great service, and a terrific lunch really made our day on a recent chilly Friday. The emphasis is on varied, seasonal, and high-quality Italian cuisine, and on interesting flavors and... More
