Don't come here expecting anything but really good food and kind people. The lunch buffet is very fine.

I didn't know what to expect but several friends recommended me to go here. Curious about their sign out front for their buffet special, I finally made my way upstairs one day. It is a quaint little spot on the third floor of the building. They were attentive and helpful (as I had never had Indian food before) and made... More

We went for the lunch Buffett and it is good we had a guide with us. The restaurant is very plain and small but the food was hot and very tasty. The cook in small batches and refill the warmers frequently. The price was $9 and we all cfelt it was well worth the price.

Because Syracuse, NY has a large Asian population, we have a disproportionate number of Middle Eastern, Indian and East Asian food options for a small city. While it's still difficult to find a good Chinese restaurant (though Panda West and Fortune Hawaii fast food aren't bad), there are no less than five Indian restaurants in the Syracuse Metro area, so... Samrat is great Indian food. The buffet is great and most times I've been there they continue to put out fresh food on a regular basis. The chicken tikka masala is the best I've had including those in NYC. Mango lassi is a favorite of our whole family. The entrance is nothing to write home about, but it is worth... More

There was a buffet for about 10 dollars- but i did not take it as food looked a little stale. It was an option though..and they allow you to pack and take 1 helping of all the variety

I would like to start by pointing out that the "sketchy stairs" that some have referenced have been replaced, making the trek to the second floor uneventful. We (party of 7) arrived just after 4pm on a Saturday. We elected to go with the buffet. Pricing is $11.99 for adults and half price for kids. I believe the lunch buffet... More

This is the nearest Indian restaurant to the university. The lunch buffet is not bad - not really authentic Indian food - it's good value though at all you can eat for 10 bucks.

I spent 2 weeks traveling in China and Tibet last year, and saw a lot of scary places, and the stairway leading up to Samrat was up there with the worst of them. But don't give up...keep your eyes up, think about that good Indian meal, and keep climbing. My Chicken Vindaloo was good, just spicy enough, and a decent... More
