Alto Cinco has a varied enough menu that you can find traditional Mexican items as well as some wonderful interpretations. They are a very busy place with a loyal following because of their excellent food, certainly not for their service.

Seems a very popular place with the student crowd, it was packed on a Friday night around dinner time though we were able to quickly get a table for two. Started with chips and guac and for mains we had the black bean and rice quesadilla and a catfish burrito. Would rate the quesadilla 5/5 and the catfish 4/5. Overall... More

Alto Cinco is a local favorite nestled in the Westcott neighborhood, which is populated by students, professors, and some eccentric characters. This restaurant has something for everyone--carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans. They have a nice selection of beers on tap and a short but good wine list. It's not fancy, but it has a fun atmosphere. Great for lunch, dinner, or... More

Every time we ordered from Alto Cinco is really good, especially the catfish burrito. We usually ordered "take out" but they have dining room with a bar, that was extended recently. It's always crowded, plan accordingly. "Crowded" is good sign for this great restaurant. The food isn't gooy, cheesy Mexican, the food taste fresh, non-gooy and delicious.....that's why we love... My adult children, my wife and myself went to alto cinco for brunch in a recent Saturday. We were seated quickly and had a short wait for drinks. The front of the restaurant looks shabby. The seating area is better, we did ask for the music to be turned down so we could talk. That was the best part of the... More

My jerk chicken burrito was mostly rice. There was only a tablespoon of chicken in it. The cornbread and side salad were good.

I have been to Alto Cinco many times and look forward to each and everyone. It's always awesome! They also have a decent wine list. It's small, even though they have enlarged it, but I think that's what makes it special. Love it!

Great tastilng food from a newly expanded restaurant. Best burritos east of San Francisco. Always crowded so consider take out or delivery. Food is always made from fresh ingredients. Haven't tried their downtown location, Otro Cinco yet but it is sure to please.

This restaurant is usually quite crowded so my husband and I had given up trying to eat there. This one night we were hungry and in the area earlier than usual so had no trouble getting a booth. Décor good, with no cheap "Mexican" adornments. Got a booth and was waited on immediately. Since I had been there last the... More
