Good food, fair price for resort village

Food is very good. Do not get the cheap steak and lobster special as the lobster is the worst tasting lobster I have ever had. The other thing distasteful with this restaurant is the over sell their liquor special drinks. The also have a traveling agent business and are constantly trying to sell... read more

My husband brought me here when we were dating in 1992. We decided to check it out now. Overall the experience wasn't bad. We ordered the calamari, they were very tasty, cooked perfectly. I had the 10 oz lobster tail and he ordered the lobster and seafood au gratin. Our entrees were very good. So overall we were pleased with... More

The other thing distasteful with this restaurant is the over sell their liquor special drinks. I treated my family of four to Captain John's about 8 years ago, so in fairness my review is not recent. Why you ask? Well, quite simply, my ONE and ONLY experience was SO BAD, I have never returned. The atmosphere was great, if you like a Pirate-y Gilligan's Island feel, which I do. That is where it stops being... More

Stopped in for 2 for 1 margarita special. We think they forgot the tequilla. Ordered a stuffed mushroom app and received 4 small mushrooms for $10. Way overpriced, staff not friendly, spend your money at the canal view restaurant.

Food was incredible! Seafood bisque is the best we ever had! The prime rib & lobster tail "special" is a great value. Tiki bar feel with sweet & friendly staff. We will definitely come back again.

We decided to eat here mainly because of their prime rib/seafood special and we were not disappointed. I had crab with mine and the others had lobster. Good value for the money. Our drinks were delicious and our appetizers were delicious. We had steamed clams and the other couple had seafood bisque and clams casino. The restaurant decor is fun... More

Capt John's is fun and quaint - a bit of the tropics in NY. The tiki beach bar with a "Cheers" atmosphere know no stranger (at least not for long). The ringing of bells with each order of an exotic drink fill the air. The best was the prime rib and lobster special - Yummy!

My girlfriends and I went to Captain John's, primarily because most other restaurants were closed on Mondays, and I must say I was not excited, until I got there! The decor is so whimsical, clean, fun and energetic, it was a surprise. The drink choices were unending and delicious (Pineapple Mojitos were awesome!) We had the surf and turf (16.99)... More

On entry, the diner is struck by the decor, which is reminiscent of 1960s destination-type restaurants like Trader Vic's, with authentic marine antiques mixed freely with tacky reproductions and Jimmy Buffet tchotchkes. On entry one is confronted with wax replicas of all the bar drinks, which are clearly the main focus here. Both the hostess and the server pushed the... More

My family and I make a yearly trip to this restaurant. The food is always good and the service is amazing. I love the atmosphere. It's a pirate feel and each booth is labeled a Ship's name. It's not just for the grown ups, but for kids as well. Also get a specialty drink, you won't be disappointed. All specialty... More
