Still excellent

This was the second visit for me to Chinar. The service is still attentive and the food top notch. It was sat night and there was an excellent saxophonist. We started with fried calamari which was tender and well seasoned. The main I had was shrimp and pasta in pesto sauce it was Al dente and... read more

This is one of the best restaurants on the Island. Friendly staff, fresh food , salads made for your order ( not 5 days in advance ) , middle eastern and russian flavors . We have dinner there at least once a week. Love it !

Chinar on the Island never disappoints. I have been there numerous times and it's always amazingđź‘Ś;especially the potatoes and mushroom and mixed meat platter. I celebrated my birthday there in January with about 20 guest and all my guest were very impressed with their service and food!! This is for sure my go to spot in Staten Island!

We looked at a menu before deciding to sit down. It looked good so we decide to stay. The bartender came over and greeted us and took our drink order then disappeared for 15 minutes. When she returned she made our drinks and brought them over. We ordered two entrees and waited, and waited and waited. When the food came... More

Good ambiance, nice dining room. The tables are not pushed together but in a comfortable pattern. The wait staff are friendly and helpful. Weekends there's live music. We were a party of 8 and started with lots of appetizers. They were fresh and delicious also the bread was the same. Octopus salad was tasty and tender the salmon &tuna exquisite.... More

Chinar on the island is a perfect place for any kind of celebration. The place beautifully redone after hurricane Sandy about a year ago has a certain charm and comfort ,excellent service , the food great as always! It continues to be one of our favorite restaurants were we keep coming back with friends and family.. Highly recommend it!

Good food, interesting decor, staff either lost or there is a language barrier. The hummus was great, the bread nice and hot, tasty too. The lamb was cooked perfect but SALT, wow! The dessert was excellent.

When we were looking for my husband's Birthday celebration we decided on Chinar again. Place is perfect for big company and small. We had about 40 guests and everyone lived it. Food was great, service was excellent starting from party planning and including the whole time at the party. Price is not cheap but good things are never cheap. They... More

We were greeted kindly, served promptly, given good menu suggestions, and didn't break the bank. Most imprtantly though, of course, was how great the food tasted! We've been here before for banquets and always had a great time.

Everything was good until I order my main course .It was sea bass kebab. It tasted like ammonium. It was horrible. Before you order make sure the fish is fresh. Ammonia smelling fish is definitely a reason to send the dish back.
