Great Ambiance, Very Good Food

Its a beautiful place to dine. I love the way it is set up - in a long alleyway between two buildings. It reminds me of the many dining experiences i have had in Europe. The service was very good and the food was well prepared and tasteful. I had the sea bass, which was very very tender and... read more

I have gone there for over ten years and my past dinner experience was disappointing. I had order the spaghetti with seafood. First the waiter brought out a big bowl for the clam shells. When the dish arrived there were two Manila clams in the dish with some julienne calamari. The dish had good flavor but some seafood would have... More

I found it funny, ten years ago, when you'd go to Southampton st. Ambroeus to face the crazy aggressive Italian lady. Now, seriously, is just time for her to retire. She is a deal breaker. And the new rule that between 4 and 6 you can't use the bathroom (as a customer) just shows how little she cares about her... More

Whenever we are in Southampton we make it a point to stop at Sant Ambroeus for a Gelato. It's a taste of Italy and worth the wait on a crowded summer afternoon.

OMG! I had the best shrimp and pasta of my life. This place is not cheap, but oh so worth it. Both inside and outside seating. Great people great service!

The basic dining proposition is reasonably well prepared Italian dishes. However the prices were definitely more remarkable than the food. More remarkable still was the following: as our party was waiting to be seated by a very polite and capable hostess, an older gentleman whom we learned to be the owner came up to her and started to shout and... We dined outdoors in a passageway that has become an outdoor garden. They even had gluten-free pasta. Service was excellent. We had fun people-watching.

Great selection of pastas (particularly the Vongole), the carpaccio and vitel tonnato were delicious. Great wine list of super Tuscans. Very busy in the summer, with tight seating in the outdoor alleyway (which goes on indefinitely) and can be price but worth the effort.

An enjoyable dining experience with simple yet tasty food prepared with high quality ingredients with an attentive wait staff. Upon entering, despite being dressed in very comfortable beachy clothing, we were seated by a friendly and well-attired hostess. The caprese was delicious as was the tagliatelle and fusilli (special). We overpaid for what we ordered but it is Southampton after... More

I was thrilled with the service, atmosphere and delicious dinner--from olive bread, artichoke salad to pasta with veal ragu. We were too full for dessert, but it did look wonderful! Pricey, but well worth it. I highly recommend!
