Solid place to eat, as always

It has been a while since we last ate at Shippy's , and I'm wondering why we waited so long. Maybe it's the 25+ mile ride, but it was worth it. If you like German food this is a great place. Try the smoked pork chops or sauerbraten. Their steaks are very good as well. This place is SOLID as... read more

Shippy's Pumpernickel's combines the food and hospitality of a long time Southampton favorite, with a solid if not flashy Long Island favorite Pumpernickel's of Northport. This is definitely a "locals" joint. The bar is vibrant with local folks town and village workers some local attorneys and no shortage of Republicans. This ain't Hillary Clinton's Hamptons. Talk around the bar was... More

So, Shippys is a nice place, ok food and very nice friendly staff. Prices are "Hamptons" but this is a resort where even Pad Thai would run you $30.00 so most people are numb when it comes to the cost o eating out here. This particular night in late August 2015, I hade a couple of Bratwurst and home fries... More

Shippy's has excellent steaks, some good German specialties, fresh seafood, minimal vegetables, fine soups and the best and warmest waitresses in Southampton. It hasn't changed in years, but we keep going back because what they do they do well and they do it at very reasonable prices (soup or salad is still included in the entrée price!) It's understandably very... More

This is a consistently good restaurant through the years with very nice waitstaff and good solid food. Also they have a reasonable wine list and although the decor is getting old and the booths need work, it's a good family place.

Here at Shippys you can enjoy wonderful German/American food (the wursts are the best around) and lots of local flavor of the Hamptons. This is not a touristy spot, but finding it is a terrific surprise for a foodie. The steaks are super, the pork amazing and the schnitzel is terrific. Hang out at the bar and you meet some... More

We went for lunch during their Polish Fest and the food was very good. I tried their stuffed cabbage entree and hubby had a stuffed, rolled beef dish, both with the mashed potatoes and red cabbage. Large portions but so good we both cleaned our plates (except for the cabbage). Grandpa enjoyed the veal meatloaf and had enough leftovers for... More

Love this restaurant. Ate at the bar. Plenty of local people who can give you stories of the area. Food is always good. Had Roast Beef BLT on Pumpernickel. Excellent. All sandwiches are pretty huge Been there for dinner and the steaks are great. If you sit at the bar Donny will take care of you.
