A great meal. The fish was so fresh the owner left for the fish market to retrieve todays catch while we were in the restaurant. Extremely accommodating and very open to modifying dishes to our wishes. Beautifully decorated inside and out. The waiter was very friendly and helpful not only with food selection but had great area knowledge.

Great food and mostly locals - was a good alternative to Vine Street if you can't get a reservation. Surprisingly good as you wouldnt expect it to be as nice in the dining room as it seems from the outside.

Delicious food- super charming setting- a former general store with fireplace, white washed wainscoting, candles on every table and a lovely dining patio. The bar is lively and offers live music, Sweet Tomato's offers that rare balance of a vacation restaurant that is not touristy- filled with locals and visitors- that's authentic, welcoming and elegant, yet casual and relaxed.

Never disappoints... a fabulous menu of delicious food and a wonderful staff in this immaculate, wonderful restaurant. The filet mignon with risotto is out of this world, the ravioli is great, and the Cioppino doesn't spare the seafood. A must when visiting Shelter Island.

My wife and I were here several nights ago. We came in shortly before 5 PM as we had someplace to be at 7. Dinner service had not yet started and we were seated at the bar. I ordered a cocktail the name of which I did not know and which the bartender was unfamiliar with. Upon my describing it,... More

My wife and I stopped at Sweet Tomato's on a lark and happy we did. Excellent homemade pasta dishes (no question it is homemade), the black truffle risotto was full flavored, but not overpowered by truffle. The service was helpful, courteous and offered thoughtful wine pairings. The special ravioli was incredible - roasted branzino, ricotta and lobster in a pink... More

Cute and funky looking restaurant with front porch dining. Judging from its looks outside we assumed it was a casual Italian place. We stopped in for a quick bite around 9pm on a Sunday night. We entered through a side alley into a bar area. From the looks inside and the pleather bound menus, I got the feeling it wasn't... More

We have visited the sweet tomato for years and love it. We will have at least one meal there every time we go to the Island. I do however, feel the menu changes are not always well rounded and the prices are somewhat high. It’s definitely worth it as you can taste the fresh ingredients and the staff is always... More

Our host at the House on Chase Creek B&B recommended Sweet Tomato's to us, so we went there for dinner our first night on the island, and were extremely glad we did. The service was excellent, the food fantastic, the restaurant charming. The overall experience was amazing. In greeting us, the manager discovered we were newly weds, and as a... More

The food was just okay. I wanted medium rare steak and I got well done. It had a good taste, though. Dessert was fabulous - tiramisu. Nice wine/beer selection. Good atmosphere - eating on the porch was nice. Wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but it was convenient.
