Food was delicious and fresh. We had a chicken cutlet with fresh greens and cheese risotto, which was tender, delicious and well presented. The service was also top notch. It's a small cozy place worthy of a visit.

While we have eaten at Sweet Tomato’s a half dozen times over the past few years and this was the first time we have had a below average meal. Perhaps the rush of the Labor Day weekend had tired them out, but the service and food had a lot to be desired. First we ordered the Roasted Beet Salad with... More

Dinner was a little "hit and miss" One of us had a great appetizer, the other was so-so. Same with the entrees - one awesome, one was so-so. We shared a dessert (chocolate lava cake) which was completely cooked so there was no "lava" in the middle but the ice cream with the cake was excellent. Service was wonderful and... More

Swt Tomato's is a very nice restaurant serving very good Italian food. The 1/2 portions on the pasta dishes are small so I recommend you order the full portion. Disappointing they ran out of lasagna - If its a nice night ask for a table on the porch. You must make a reservation because it gets very crowded. Jimmy, the... More

After our waiter advised us that a number of items on the menu were sold out (because it was Sunday?) I opted for loin lamb chops which was one of the day's specials. I requested that they be cooked to "medium well." The waiter informed me that this would not be possible. When I asked why I was told that... More

Food was HOT (temp) and served perfectly. Had the Oso Boco & Short Ribs. Could not have been better. We have not been to Shelter Island in nearly 9 years. Will most definately return. Our only way to get here is by personal boat and will make it astop now that we are cruising in northern waters during the summer... More

Can't understand the positive reviews saying this is the best place on Shelter Island. Yes - the place is in a cute house and has a nice, friendly atmosphere. But the food is less than average. A very ordinary menu with Italian inspiration. Roasted portabello mushroom with melted plastic mozzarello. A beet and goat cheese salad: how original! If only... More

Wanted a lighter dinner and it was suggested we try the bar area/menu. The service was poor/inexperienced, the good took too long, the pizza was excellent but the chicken parma was average at best, oh and the service - how long do you suppose it should take for water!
