Dinner was a little "hit and miss" One of us had a great appetizer, the other was so-so. Same with the entrees - one awesome, one was so-so. We shared a dessert (chocolate lava cake) which was completely cooked so there was no "lava" in the middle but the ice cream with the cake was excellent. Service was wonderful and... More

Swt Tomato's is a very nice restaurant serving very good Italian food. The 1/2 portions on the pasta dishes are small so I recommend you order the full portion. Disappointing they ran out of lasagna - If its a nice night ask for a table on the porch. You must make a reservation because it gets very crowded. Jimmy, the... More

After our waiter advised us that a number of items on the menu were sold out (because it was Sunday?) I opted for loin lamb chops which was one of the day's specials. I requested that they be cooked to "medium well." The waiter informed me that this would not be possible. When I asked why I was told that... More

Food was HOT (temp) and served perfectly. Had the Oso Boco & Short Ribs. Could not have been better. We have not been to Shelter Island in nearly 9 years. Will most definately return. Our only way to get here is by personal boat and will make it astop now that we are cruising in northern waters during the summer... More

Can't understand the positive reviews saying this is the best place on Shelter Island. Yes - the place is in a cute house and has a nice, friendly atmosphere. But the food is less than average. A very ordinary menu with Italian inspiration. Roasted portabello mushroom with melted plastic mozzarello. A beet and goat cheese salad: how original! If only... More

Wanted a lighter dinner and it was suggested we try the bar area/menu. The service was poor/inexperienced, the good took too long, the pizza was excellent but the chicken parma was average at best, oh and the service - how long do you suppose it should take for water!

I went for dinner with my wife and the special of the night was sea bass with mashed potatoes, I asked the waitress to replace it with pasta and the manager was very cordial and helpful with my request. They served me a delicious paste pesto with the fish, it was delicious..!!

Went to Sweet Tomato with my family in June 2014. Great meal! We all had different dishes and we loved it. Service was a little odd. We had five different people come to our table. Dessert was awesome. Highly recommended. For this restaurant you get what you pay for. Note - Bring bug spray if sitting outside.

Of course its overpriced. You are on Shelter Island so thats no surprise. But the food was tasteless except for the burnt taste because both the chicken and steak were both over-grilled. YUCK. Waste of money.
