Arrived with reservation 5pm friday. Open table reservation warned there would be a 30 dollar charge per person for any cancelations less than 24 hours in advance - never ever heard of that before and I've been around. Figured I should thus have very high expectations because that is a very strong "how do you do" statement. So we were... More

There's a reason it's crowded all the time! Terrific food with a great wine selection and friendly Shelter Island hospitality. Also recommend their market in the back for take-out containers of their mysteriously delicious bolognese sauce.

Tuna tarter was a bit bland but the tuna was pretty fresh. Salmon entree was pretty good...the miso sauce could be less salty, but otherwise, the Jasmine rice with vegetables were superb! My boyfriend enjoyed his medium rare steak..... Most of the wines listed was marked up 3 or 4 times more than when you purchase it yourself at the... More

In contrast to the cool, laid back & sometimes frustrating service on Shelter Island, Vine Street Cafe has the slick service of a city restaurant. We selected a range of meals between the 5 of us, and all were good or very good and there was food envy for passing dishes that we hadn't ordered. It's hard to imagine this... More

We went to have a quiet couples dinner and were not disappointed. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. Many choices on wine menu. Some of the best steak tips I've had, especially in a pre-fixe menu.

Went here with friends while visiting LI vineyards. Our Chateaubriand was ice cold and served with ice cold sauce. No potatoes and no vegetables. Came with fries. When the manager came to the table, he informed us that they serve it this way. They are eclectic. In my 35 years of owning a restaurant, being the executive chef, French trained,... More

If it would of been appropriate, we might all have licked our plates clean! The pepper corn sauce on the perfectly cooked steak and the bolonase. I mean seriously, how can food be that good? And the bread - YUM! The only reason I gave 4 stars for service was because they quit paying attention to our lack of water... More

Yes. The food is good but do you really need to pay $42.00 for a piece of fish no bigger than a Brillo pad? Marginal white wine for $14.00 a glass is a true lession in sipping. Is that really a $50.00 steak on the menu? Again the food is good but how they charge what they do is a... More

Recently went to vine street, which I have wanted to visit for a while. Good was good but not with the $$$ sings for sure. There are many other local places out East that offer great menu items with less pretentious atmosphere. Our waitress was very nice though.
