Fall comfort!

Just in time for the cold weather! It's always a pleasure to dine at Vine Street. Dependable excellence without trying to be over the top. Went back recently after at least a year away and, as most at previous visits, some really good food (Berkshire pork outstanding), attractive atmosphere, lively (but not deafening) noise level, and friendly service, but some failings that one shouldn't have to put up with at a place with ambitions and prices as Vine Street. This time it was a series... More

We shared salads heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella and roasted pistachios, calamari with green & carrot ginger dressing, prosciuto with greens, peaches vingarette dressing, Main course duck the Saturday special, chateau briand for two rare done perfectly melted like butter and speaking of butter, the bread baquettes served individually warm standing on end. Over all excellent reservations recommended not a large... More

Don't miss the steak frites. Mine was cooked to perfection and they were happy to split a steak for my two kids. The side dishes - separately priced - were also very good: roasted mushrooms and spicy greens. Prices are high - $50 for a steak, so it's a little unreasonable to charge for the side dishes. Service was OK... More

Don't get me wrong, this is a good restaurant, but just good. Entrance and seating was pleasant with a booking made. Waittress could not offer a good wine but appreciate she is not expected to be an expert. Food arrived in good time. Duck main was tasty but nothing exceptional. Lacked a bit of atmosphere. Just didn't live up to... More

We love the specials. We love the French fries too. They are extremely accommodating to special diets. The food is high end and the restaurant is gorgeous but there is a casual feel about the place. Very special a must go to.

I finally went to Vine Street Cafe and I am so glad I did. Made my reservation on Open Table (very easy). We went from sag harbor on the shelter island ferry . It is a beautiful and relaxing drive. The restaurant is a short ride away. Set in a classic shingled house, there are several seating choices: front porch,... More

Make a reservation if you plan on coming here!!!!!! Also, good luck with that reservation! The front desk staff were a mess! You could compare them to being forced to sit in the practice car in a high school driver's ed class. We still had to wait at the bar for our table (I did notice the bartender have a... More

We went to celebrate a birthday. Party of 4. Once seated it took over 10 minutes before somebody finally approached our table to see if we wanted drinks. We were just about ready to leave. The drinks arrived separately, and after another wait, clearly indicating a little bit of a problem at the bar, the remaining drinks arrived. Not particularly... More

Advance reservations a must at this busy cafe which is a bit hard to find; located on Shelter Is. it has an desirable ambiance, romantic bar setting. The menu leaves a bit to be desired however. Chateaubriand was cooked perfectly, but the sides not so much. Dessert was quite small, albeit described dramatically so that the anticipation overshadowed the treat.... More
