So nearly 5 star

This is a beautiful place to go for a nice evening out. As foodies, we were fed up of paying high prices for mediocre meals in NY. So Shelter Island House was a nice find. Our various starters were octopus (outstanding), baked clams (very nice), lamb (superb) and chicken pops (nice). Our mains... read more

The Tavern is a great place with a secret. The secret is to ask for a table in the back by the pool. There are only a half dozen tables and it is just perfect. And romantic..... The menu is great and there are always specials. The food was outstanding and I would go back just for the Short Ribs... More

New restaurant--shelter Island House. Went on a Sunday for dinner but by myself. Must have had my invisibility cloak on! Gave up waiting for a waiter and moved to the bar. Prompt service from nice bar tender. Not impressed by table service but then when you are a single woman, good luck.

We stopped in here without a reservation. Had just checked into SEVEN next door. Since we didn't have a reservation our choices were to sit at the bar or in the lounge. We chose the lounge. It was warm and inviting. The area with the couches and tables had board games and plenty of room to put your meal out.... More

We had dinner in the summer (August 2014) at the restaurant of this relatively new hotel. A beautiful, classic New England porch where you can pick from Japanese and South East Asian dishes that are very well executed. Do eat here on your visit to Shelter Island, there is nothing else like it on the island.

What a great little find! We went on a busy summer weekend and had no trouble getting a table, the service was excellent and the food was really special. It's Indonesian with some fusion, very well done. The menu is not huge but there were four of us and we all ordered different items and multiple courses and left impressed.... More

there is no place to have any good asian food on the south fork other than Sen in Sag Harbor so my wife and I were so happy to discover the great new restaurant at Maison Blanche KATANA. The old french place will not be missed. We had an amazing Rib eye steak cooked to perfection and my wife enjoyed... More
