Had dinner here this past week, chilly outside but nice and warm and comfy inside. Our waiter was attentive. Finally a chef who offers some innovative cooking such as a delicious Kung Po Cauliflower appertizer in lieu of chicken, what a great idea. And Pork Shank Pastrami, another item that I had never encountered in my culinary endeavours, with cooked... More

Hoping for a choice of seafood among the dinner choices, we were hard pressed to find much local seafood or fish. Starters were meager and overpriced ($18 for 6 oysters). Salmon well cooked, Chicken very overcooked, Pasta OK, desserts uninspiring. Service quite snooty and unfriendly. Wines OK but overpriced.

The Tavern is a great place with a secret. The secret is to ask for a table in the back by the pool. There are only a half dozen tables and it is just perfect. And romantic..... The menu is great and there are always specials. The food was outstanding and I would go back just for the Short Ribs... More

This is a beautiful place to go for a nice evening out. As foodies, we were fed up of paying high prices for mediocre meals in NY. So Shelter Island House was a nice find. Our various starters were octopus (outstanding), baked clams (very nice), lamb (superb) and chicken pops (nice). Our mains were SIH Burgers for hubby and kids... More

New restaurant--shelter Island House. Went on a Sunday for dinner but by myself. Must have had my invisibility cloak on! Gave up waiting for a waiter and moved to the bar. Prompt service from nice bar tender. Not impressed by table service but then when you are a single woman, good luck.

We stopped in here without a reservation. Had just checked into SEVEN next door. Since we didn't have a reservation our choices were to sit at the bar or in the lounge. We chose the lounge. It was warm and inviting. The area with the couches and tables had board games and plenty of room to put your meal out.... More
