18 Bay is a Chef owned and operated restaurant. We serve a four course Italian inspired Chefs menu that is a direct reflection of the local markets. Dinner begins with four different antipasti, followed by a handmade pasta, a choice of entree and dessert. The menu changes every week. We make handcrafted cocktails using organic syrups, serve local wine including two on tap, as well as international wines from small producers. We offer a vegetarian menu and accommodate for any allergies or aversions. We look forward to sharing with you our interpretation of the best of our terroir.

top food on a small island

Shlter Island is very desolate by late fall. But 18 bay stays open and serves a fixed fours course meal high quality. They also serve first class wine by the glass.

A perfect evening with farm to table ingredients and a menu that changes weekly. This restaurant is owner operated so we were very well looked after - food, service, and ambiance couldn't have been better!

The tasting menu was just a dream. We totally enjoyed the evening. The ambience was great, and the wait staff was professional. I had a great drink with Sarsaparilla syrup and Bourbon wow it was good!

18 bay was recommended by several New York City and North Fork friends recently; so, I decided to take some friends who were visiting us in Orient, NY. We arrived early and had drinks at the bar, the old fashion was on of the best and the bartender/server was lovely. The menu is a seasonal/local prefixed which we were aware... More

Food, service and atmosphere were amazing here - we loved the menu concept, Shannon our server was incredibly well informed and gracious. The chef came and said hi. Some of the best pasta we have ever eaten.

This place is what the modern restaurant experience should be about, a laid-back, down to earth atmosphere, combined with personable service and imaginative cooking. Even the jaded, big city person will be pleased. Wonderful!

We visited 18 Bay for dinner recently. The food was very good with some exceptions, and extremely overpriced. I had read about the fruit purses used to make some of their special cocktails. When I asked the waitress which seasonal fruit was being used she replied, "sugar plums". I was tempted to say, "as in the Sugar Plum Fairy?" but... More

I had the pleasure having dinner here not really knowing what to expect. The Chef's menu was a perfect combination of flavored and textures and wine pairs. I recommend making a reservation. All the ingredients are from the local farms. Great atmosphere inside and out.

This restaurant is well worth the trip. The food was superbly prepared and creative; drinks were excellent. Atmosphere is unpretentious and service excellent. Overall, highly recommended and even worth traveling to Shelter Island if you are not staying there.

Located right in the middle of Shelter Island and thus equally accessible to North and South Fork of Long Island this rustic house-turned-haven provides an ever changing menu of local provender, served "tasting menu style". The major elements are chef's choice of the local bests, though they are easy with, prepared for, and very good at substitutions for personal digestive... More
