Note: it's not a restaurant. Well-stocked gourmet food section (including gluten-free items), great selection of craft and popular beers, and cheeses and meats will please any foodie. Deli offers fantastic sandwiches, paninis and other bakery items and soups. Nice bench and table to sit at and read the paper and have a bite to eat. Pricey, like the rest of... More

Reddings is small but has a nice diversified menu of sandwiches, pizza, baked goods, grocery items and gourmet items. Two of our party had a Lamb Sandwich on ciabatta which they loved, my wife had a super thin crust personal pizza with thinly sliced sausage and I had the Shepherd's Pie, which was really filling. We sat out back on... More

Reddings is a great resource on Shelter Island. Great food for beach or picnic. Fried chicken is excellent and prepared salads are fresh and delicious. Great fresh bread and baked goods as well.

Redding's is a great spot to grab a coffee, meet a friend, plan what you're going to do on the Island and grab some delicious food. Food is not fancy, mostly for take out but high standard. They do all sorts of fresh pastries for a continental breakfast or you can grab a hot egg sandwich. Salads are delicious and... More

Also tried the pastries- fabulous. The apple tart and the chocolate tart were heavenly. The salads to go are also very good. I liked the beet salad with walnuts and homemade dressing. The flatbread pizza is great(2-4 varieties). This is not a fancy place but a casual/carryout or eat in with a France- worthy level of cuisine. I think the... More

I go to Reddings for early breakfast and sometimes get the prepared salads to take on board for lunch. You'll find cheaper grocery items elsewhere on the island, and the coffee is better at stars, but Reddings is a good choice for an egg Sammy to start your day.

It seemed as though the place was just opening for the season, as most of the shelves were not stocked. But they make a really good roast beef sandwich with horseradish mayo.

We can finally say we have a place to order a fantastic lobster roll on Shelter Island. It's outstanding. Hard to stop at one. Other made-to-order items, such as the fish tacos, are favorites with my friends and family. Shelter Island is a low-key place that shuns the "Hamptons attitude"...this is a little bit of an upscale exception that appeals... More
