Try the curry chicken salad on their homemade raisin bread! Fresh, delicious, costly (figure around $30 for two people for lunch)

This cafe serves excellent sandwiches. Besides their location in Sharon Springs, an old resort town from the early 20th century currently undergoing a revival, the black Cat also is the supplier of all the picnic boxes at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival which is only 20-25 minutes away,

I love corned beef and if you do too, try anything Tony has on the menu with it in it! He makes his own corned beef right there so it is always consistantly great!

We knew we were in trouble when we asked for a cappuccino and the girl behind the bar at the Black Cat CAFE asked us "What's in a cappuccino? An espresso shot and milk, right?" ...Well...that cappuccino ended in a garbage can after one sip...Amen

Terribly sorry! You were waited on by a trainee on her second day is the explanation, but it is NOT an excuse! She took the initiative to serve you without getting her trainer, and she made a mistake. We've encouraged her but let her know to ask for help until she is fully capable. Anyway, it is our fault, unacceptable... More

Every year, once summer ends, I look forward to returning the following summer to the Cooperstown region, and one of the things I look forward to the most is eating at the Black Cat. Tony, the fantastic owner/host, is as knowledgeable about food as he is welcoming and fun to visit with. The baked goods are impossible to resist, the... More

Please remember this is a very small town and the small shops and restaurants that are very much dependent on travelers. Small space with decent food and service that says they are trying hard. Very pleasant if you have reasonable expectations.

Tony and the cats serve up some of the best sandwiches, baked goods, coffee and tea -- AND lunch boxes during the Glimmerglass performing arts season. Recently, the hours were extended, and particularly in the winter, when other Sharon Springs establishments shut down, Tony has offered pizza and cuban sandwiches for evening take-out (an interesting delivery option is available, I... We wanted lunch out after a book fair and stopped by the Black Cat as several friends had said they loved it. We did not find it to our liking. We were given the specials but no prices for them. (It is so embarrassing to have to ask.) The tomato basil soup was over salted and served without any soup... More
