Nice vegan offerings

This restaurant has a menu for omnivores as well as vegans and vegetarians. I have eaten here twice and been very satisfied both times. I had the seitan dish this last time and it was delicious. As an appetizer, I had the beet medley - the beet chips were particularly good. I think this... read more

We had tried New World Restaurant while visiting Albany and were happy to be able to try their location in the Woodstock area. Their vegan appetizers and entrees are surprisingly very good and spot on for a restaurant which is not predominantly vegetarian, let alone vegan! We especially enjoyed the blackened green beans and the hummus as appetizers and the... More

I've been to NWHC about four times. It has the most amazing food I've ever tasted. Yesterday my friend and I visited and it did not disappoint. I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and my friend had the jerk chicken, both were delicious. As an appetizer we had the Cajun blackened green beans, The most unbelievable appetizer I've had... The Calamari was FANTASTIC! Loved the flair of heat infused in the sauce. The children's menus could use some help. Limited choices. Why would you put swiss cheese on a child's pizza? That took the choice straight off the list for my children. Wings for children were the best choice for my finicky eaters. Tasty. The Ropa Viejas is one... More

We came down to Saugerties for the weekend from Albany. We frequent New World Bistro in Albany quite a bit and wanted to try New World Home Cooking and made a reservation. We were expecting the same quality and service that we got in Albany- the food was excellent however the service was not. We waited 35 minutes before our... More

My niece and I LOVE NWHC! However, my wife, who is a self-confessed "plain eater," will not eat there. Their recipes are fresh, unique and carefully prepared, but everything is spicy, even when the waitstaff assures you it's not. What's seitan? I have no idea! But it was delish! Oh, and their cocktails are super! Brunch is also great.

Our server barely came to the table, which was frustrating. The food was very good, but also very spicy. I like spicy but my friends were dying! The prices were a bit hi, but it was Valentine's day. I would try it again.

IWe have enjoyed some delish eats at NWHC. While right now it is not salad season, when it is, I like Ric's Caesar, and the Kale salad. Always with a protein add-on. Service has been fine the last number of times-- in fact the last several years, happy to say. Sorry brunch is off the menu right now-- but it... More

My husband and I spent a long weekend in Woodstock over Presidents weekend - which was also Valentines weekend and Mardi Gras. NWHC was decorated in a Mardi Gras theme on the Friday night we were there and they had a a special menu that went along with the theme. But - their regular menu had soooo many things we... More

Sadly, a terrible night at NWHC. Warm prosecco in a dirty glass, slow service, cold and greasy fries, tasteless Thai green curry with pre-cooked, dry grilled chicken apparently thrown in at the last minute. If that wasn't bad enough, my dining partner found TWO hairs in her salmon sandwich. No, we did not say anything because we were hungry and... More
