Description: In a city steeped in tradition, from its historic healing spas to the horses, there is only one family owned restaurant that has endured for over 75 incredible, edible years - Panza's Restaurant. Panza's bakery opened its doors in Mechanicville in 1897. That was the first time Upstate New York experienced the delicious Neapolitan style brick oven baked pizza and other secret family recipes our relatives brought with them from the old country. Ma Panza and her husband Joseph were unable to speak English when they first arrived from Napoli, so they allowed their cooking to do the talking for them, and did it ever. Everyone in the neighborhood was talking about this new baking sensation called, "pizza." Ma Panza's authentic brand of home style Italian cooking became a staple in the Capital Region, and has continued in their tradition spanning more than five generations and still using the same brick oven Ma Panza cooked in. Today, we still offer the same authentic Italian fare Ma Panza made back in the late 1800s, serving guests in our restaurant and providing extensive catering services for banquets, weddings and events.

Panza's Restaurant is across the road from Saratoga Lake. Four of us dined there, August 31, for the first time, late Sunday afternoon. The service was attentive and cheerful; the ambiance serene. The food was terrific. Ed had the Long Island duck, which he proclaimed "fabulous". The fig sauce was wonderful. Eileen had pasta with a meat sauce made with... More

Panza's has a great story and history. The food is excellent southern Italian. There was live music. However, the night we were there, we were seated right away but it took the staff 45 minutes to take our order and bring bread and drinks. We would return but only on a night when we have time. The staff was very... More

Traditional Italian restaurant with authentic "old country" menu and cooking. The veal Saltimbocca is particularly delicious, and the service is attentive and friendly.

Very cozy and excellent food and service. Needs to be updated a little on the inside, but the food was great. Prices very reasonable, good value for you money. Very attentive wait staff. Great location, close to Saratoga. Piano player on Friday night which was very nice while having dinner.

We've been to Panza's about 12 or so times. We have literally never had a bad meal. The food is simply amazing. I've tried many things on the menu, sausage, steak, chicken and veal. They were all great. However the best thing I tried was the Ma Panza pork chops with peppers, its perfection. I've been to 50+ restaurants in... More

A mainstay of the area for 75 years, this restaurant is located across the street from Saratoga Lake (no view from within), a short 30 minute drive fom our house. We dine here several times a year with the food and service always good. What I noticed is, if I don't purchase a Groupon or use the Entertainment coupon, it... More

Panza's Restaurant was a disappointment. We chose Panza's because they told us they use all fresh ingredients and could easily accommodate special dietary requests. And because its good TripAdvisor ratings led us to believe we'd experience "fine dining." Some of the disappointments were small. It started with the non-existent view. Their website describes Panza as "on the lake." Saratoga Lake... More

Atmosphere is great. Service is great. Food is good but not extra-special. The appetizers we had, greens and beans, regular calamari, and their special spicy calamari were smaller portions than most restaurants. Dinners were average, however, a their chicken tuscany was very good. Food on average is good but not sure if we would re-visit.

Just average is never what we like to hear, Sharon! Thanks for sharing your honest feedback with us. I'm disappointed that you didn't love everything you ordered last year. Have you had a chance to come visit us again recently? I know we can show you that we go above and beyond your average Italian restaurant. Hope to have you... More

Our friends wanted to revisit this place as they had gotten engaged here 27 years ago. A coupon made it seem more appealing. Very impressed. Wife's linguine with white clam sauce had 5 large fresh clams in it, and was quite tasty. My salmon had a delicious topping which made me skip my normal lemon garnish. Friends enjoyed their meals.... Our friends live about 90 seconds from this restaurant by foot, and since we had all been cocktailing liberally that day, this was the place for us!!! Had a chicken in angel hair pasta, excellent. Bridey had a steak, good, but about what I can do at home. Extra spicy calamari and clams casino apps were also very good. Met a local character or two... More
