I recently went to Bigelow's with my family for dinner. It is a traditional New England style fried seafood shop that has been in RVC for years. Upon entering you are immediately greeted by a very friendly staff that makes it a point to make you feel at home. The clam chowder is fantastic and the Ipswich clams are phenomenal.... More

The Ipswich clams and New England chowder are to die for. The onion rings are the best I ever had. The restaurant is very small and seats 12-14 people at a horseshoe counter. There are no tables and you are served on paper plates. The owner is the friendliest of people and makes you feel like he really likes dealing... More

We stopped in and had some excellent clam chowder and some fried clam bellies. Both were really good and the service was excellent. Worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood.

I love this place! Family owned, no tables just a big circular counter, great staff, paper plates, and the best fried clams I have EVER had! We also tried the seafood bisque and clam chowder which were both wonderful. There are so many things more to try on the menu but I am not sure I could get away from... More

Finally found a restaurant outside of Maine or Massachusetts that knows how to make fried clams, best clams by far. Also al fried foods were great. Not greasy and very tasty. Good size portions and pleasant counter staff. Worth the trip.

Walking in and seeing just a counter and no tables, had me leery but I was pleasantly surprised. The shrimp cocktail was excellent. When my crab cakes and fries came out on a paper plate looking very "fried" and such a huge portion, I didn't think I would like it; BUT again 15 minutes later there was a clean plate... More

Nice little diner with outstanding seafood dishes. Can be a wait but they do takeout orders also. Enjoyed my meal and the staff is excellent.

On a recent trip back to Long Island we made a special stop at Bigelow's. Serving up great fried clams, shrimp, and lots of other fried items on the menu. This small and very friendly place will please the appetite every time. The seafood chowder was excellent, plus great oyster crackers to go with it. You get a nice hello when... More

Growing up in RVC...every Sunday on our way back from the Sands Beach Club, we would stop at Bigelow's for the BEST Fried Clams ever. I live in California now, and there's nowhere anywhere that's even close to the Fried Ipswich Clams at Bigelow's. Went back for H.S. reunion several years ago, and stopped at Bigelow's...not much has changed except... More

I was expecting more of a restaurant set-up when I walked in, but it's actually more like a bar, and pretty small. It's nicely decorated though, and didn't feel crowded when we were actually sitting and eating. I think I would have preferred a table set-up, but there seemed to be lots of people there by themselves for lunch, so... More
