Finally found a restaurant outside of Maine or Massachusetts that knows how to make fried clams, best clams by far. Also al fried foods were great. Not greasy and very tasty. Good size portions and pleasant counter staff. Worth the trip.

Walking in and seeing just a counter and no tables, had me leery but I was pleasantly surprised. The shrimp cocktail was excellent. When my crab cakes and fries came out on a paper plate looking very "fried" and such a huge portion, I didn't think I would like it; BUT again 15 minutes later there was a clean plate... More

Nice little diner with outstanding seafood dishes. Can be a wait but they do takeout orders also. Enjoyed my meal and the staff is excellent.

On a recent trip back to Long Island we made a special stop at Bigelow's. Serving up great fried clams, shrimp, and lots of other fried items on the menu. This small and very friendly place will please the appetite every time. The seafood chowder was excellent, plus great oyster crackers to go with it. You get a nice hello when... More

Growing up in RVC...every Sunday on our way back from the Sands Beach Club, we would stop at Bigelow's for the BEST Fried Clams ever. I live in California now, and there's nowhere anywhere that's even close to the Fried Ipswich Clams at Bigelow's. Went back for H.S. reunion several years ago, and stopped at Bigelow's...not much has changed except... More

I was expecting more of a restaurant set-up when I walked in, but it's actually more like a bar, and pretty small. It's nicely decorated though, and didn't feel crowded when we were actually sitting and eating. I think I would have preferred a table set-up, but there seemed to be lots of people there by themselves for lunch, so... More

We went Christmas Eve...I didn't get the hype. The Clam chowder was good, fresh. I will say the food overall was fresh. But it needed flavor. The fish is battered and dumped in a fryer, but it was too fried. It was all crust and barely fish. My son enjoyed his chicken tenders, said it was the best. The fries... More

Bigelow's has been around forever and there is a reason for this: the seafood is always fresh and prepared when you order it. The menu is rather large when it comes to seafood and limited for everything else. They have terrific clam chowder, both red and white. I often can't really choose which one to have and trade off every... More

When my grown sons come home for a visit, they always want to go to Bigelows. It's become a family tradition to go here at least once while they're home. The seafood is fresh and delicious and the New England clam chowder is the best we've ever had. I especially like the fried clams and, in season, the soft shell... More

Popped in there for a quick meal. I must say every single person that works there is beyond friendly and happy. The New England clam chowder is amazing, and for lunch I had the fried clam strips, with their delicious homemade cole slaw. I live in long beach and will be a weekly customer for life!
