Bigalow's at Last - After 60 Years

Since I moved to Oceanside in 1956, and for years after, when I no longer lived there, I must have driven past Bigalow's hundreds of times. Never once did I stop in to sample their fabled fried clams. Today, I knew that my drive would take me past Bigalow's and I resolved to go in. I bought a... read more

Tastiest calamari and chowders I've ever had. It's a bit pricey but for what you get it's definitely worth the money. Try the seafood bisque and Manhattan clam chowder!

Fried Ipswich clams at Bilelow's is like a day trip to Boston! In point of fact these might be better. Where does he get them, I have no idea but whatever to source, they are worth the diet busting while eating them deep fried. Make no mistake, Bigelow's is a no frills fry shack but so very much worth the... More

This place may not look like a typical seafood restaurant but don't judge a book by it's cover. This place rocks! Fantastic soup and even better entree's. Lots to eat and everything is terrific. Everyone is friendly and makes you feel right at home.

Bit of an odd place in these times. Seating is first come first served, no tables only a service counter. Food is awesome and also pricey.

The restaurant has been around for a very long time. They specialize in fried food. I did take out soup. The soup was very good, but also very expensive. The place was crowded and everyone had fried food. The food looked very good, but a try to stay away from fried food. If you like expensive fried food and sitting... More

Very expensive fried seafood such as my favorite New England style fried whole clams served at a counter on paper plates. Very rustic atmosphere suitable for food only. Forget ambiance, you will not be enchanted. Prices are too high and the value is just not there.

Small location, counter style dining. There were more workers than patrons the day we went in. Three of us asked for the New England Clam Chowder. When served, the counter gentleman said that I will like it. I asked him to wait a second to try a test. I put the spoon upright in the center of the bowel, it... More

There were 4 of us at dinner. Everyone enjoyed their main course. The soap was delicious. The side dishes we had were also delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We can't wait to go back again. Our waiter has worked there for 25 years. He knew what he was talking about. He was able to guide us because he... More

The seafood is wonderful. I like the clams and the New England chowder is to die for. It's a small place and everyone sits at the counter. The menu is extensive for such a small place and Bigelow's is a must stop whenever we're on Long Island for at least one meal.
