A trip to Rochester, NY, is not complete without trying the Garbage Plate at Nick Tahou. As Buffalo Wings are to Buffalo and Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is to Syracuse, Nick's Garbage Plate is to Rochester. But come hungry, it's tasty a mouthful.

This is a Rochester Classic. While really unhealthy, the Garbage plate is undeniably good. There are other imitators in the city and clearly a dish called "Garbage Plate" wasn't coined by a Marketing guru - the food is uniformly tasty.

Been travelling here for business for the last 4 years but never had the chance to visit this Rochester institution located in an old railway building I ordered the garbage plate special which consisted of tater tots, ground beef sauce, 2 hamburger patties grilled cheese mustard, onions, and a side of macaroni salad. I washed it down with a coke.... More

Now that I live out of the area it had been a few years since I had had a garbage plate. We went through the drive thru at the Henrietta location. Service was good and we had a garbage plates very quickly. We ordered them with mac salad, home fries, cheesburgers, onions, and meat sauce. Couldn't wait to get home... More

I read the reviews prior to going so I was all set up for disappointment but decided we needed to eat here as something you do in Rochester. I was pleasantly surprised. The Henrietta location was CLEAN including the bathroom (others had mentioned the main st local as not too clean) the food was tasty and I was able to... More

An institution. Employees a hoot & friendly. White hot garbage plate is yummy. All types of people came in during lunch. Just go & enjoy. Get the t-shirt. You can always go to McDonald's if you want no flavor.

Best hots and burgers in town! It's the "meat sauce" that makes them special! If you are in Rochester you need to visit Nick Tahou's Hots!

Look at all these mixed reviews! Have you ever seen people so passionately divided about a restaurant? How can it be both excellent and terrible? Just the fact that some folks find it delicious and unique, (like me) or to be the most horrible creation of this city has got to mean something, right? So may I suggest that you... More

The place is dirty and I mean dirty, it smells. The worker's including the owner are nasty and miserable. The food is tasteless. His signature dinner is the garbage plate. Consists of boxed mac salad and canned beans with two burgers of cheap gnarly beef or two hots. The famous hot sauce is pure grease no meat, no flavor. The... More

I was told the food in this place is plentiful and the flavor amazing. Yes, the food is plentiful, it darn near overflowed from the plate, but it is at best mediocre. This is not what I would describe as "flavor" unless you haven't eaten in weeks and this is all you can afford.
