Fish Fry

One of the best I've had, definitely unique to Rochester and worth stopping in for an English beer and fun company.

As a solo diner, I never feel out of place at the Old Toad, although the service is not always predictable. One night I had a great glass of alcoholic cider that I actually thought about for a couple of days, so I went back just for that. The first night service was great, food (fish and chips) excellent and... More

Great food. Excellent Yorkshire Pudding - like Grandma made it. Perfect for group gathering. We had a party of 40 people and the service and food went great. Of course there is a variety for beer selection. A favorite place to eat and relax!

My mother and I are from out of town, and we accidently found this restaurant when we were driving around. A relative saw an add for it in a magazine, and since we accidently found it, we thought we would try it. I am glad we did. The food was really good and reasonably priced, the waitress was friendly &... More

My wife and i visit the Old Toad often. The beer selection is very good and reasonably priced. My wife especially likes the cask beers. We usually have one of their sandwiches, the Westminister, Paddington or Hyde Park which are usually excellent. Service can suffer a little when a new group comes over from London, but is usually very good.... More

A group of 8 went there for a friends birthday. Needless to say- we won't be back. It took 45 min to get our dinner- service was so slow. The waitress barely checked on us. We sat at the table with empty glasses for most of the evening. The place wasn't even busy. Food was mediocre. Nothing fantastic to report... More

Hadnt been here in awhile so thought Id try it again. Service was as slow as I remember..waitress disappeared for a good 20 mins at one point. Food was ok. Had a salad, chicken was quite dry and required an additional dressing. Great beer selection though!

Small and intimate English pub atmosphere. Menu changes often; in traditional pub style with British chips; mushy peas; shepards pie; yorkshire pudding; etc. Most all foods so authentic and good. The beer and whiskey lists are quite extensive. Never a bad time there; my only concern is the tiny one stall women's room which could use a real overhaul to... More

Very inattentive staff. They obviously like each other, but maybe not the average patron. They all sat at a table and talked about a party, while customers sat at the tables and bar. Beers were good with a nice selection. Had the Hyde Park sandwich and it was terrible. Very fatty, grisly meat. Fries were tasteless and greasy. Tap and... More

A great place to go for beer/ale and pub food. The owners primarily hire in students from England on work internships, and it adds a great bit of color to your visit. The food is good, and the menu includes a number of vegetarian options for those who need them.
