Britain in Rochester

I have been to the Old Toad several times. The employees hail from all England and are very friendly. I've tried several things on the menu but always go back to the the curried chickpea burger.

When I decided to go to an English pub style restaurant I was expecting to have an appetizer and maybe one entree option. This pub had four entrees and everything clearly labeled. Even better, these weren't a microwaved veggie burger and grilled cheese, they had bangers and mash, pot pie, and Shepard's pie. They're seasonal mead was also great on... More

Great food, great beer. Would definitely recommend coming back, especially if you're lucky enough to get the same waitress I did. From Cambridge, great accent and more! That was definitely an added bonus to a great night at the Toad.

I've been visiting for 20+ years. The atmosphere is still the same, although more focus on food now versus back in the day. Cask ales on tap, great beer menu and a relaxing location make this a standard in Rochester. Some things don't need to change.

My son-in-law was in town for a visit with our family so my son and I decided to take him to this pub. Great time was had by all three of us. Enjoyed the British ambience fodd and drink. If you'd like a nice experience, do go to the Old Toad Pub.

We were in town to visit our daughter. Wanted to try someplace different and she suggested the Old Toad. She doesn't eat meat so our options can be limited. They have a good mix of meat and meatless entrees: English pub food with a twist. But what I liked best was their vast selection of beer. Food was good. Prices... More

The Old Toad was a nice British pub with some good beer and a nice ambiance. The waiting staff were busy on Friday night, but they managed to keep up and deliver my fish and chips in a reasonable amount of time. I liked the fish, but the chips were rather ordinary and I recommend passing in those. The mushy... More

Great food choices, great service. Has an authentic local tavern ambience. My husband was slightly disappointed in the limited British Draft Beer offerings.

One of the best I've had, definitely unique to Rochester and worth stopping in for an English beer and fun company.

As a solo diner, I never feel out of place at the Old Toad, although the service is not always predictable. One night I had a great glass of alcoholic cider that I actually thought about for a couple of days, so I went back just for that. The first night service was great, food (fish and chips) excellent and... More
