Excellent restaurant. Like most restaurants I have found in Rochester, closing time is about 9:00 PM, but I ate steadily and finished on time. When our party left just before 9:00, we were all alone. But there was no pressure on us to leave, and the staff were friendly and pleasant throughout.
Where to dine while visiting our son who is a student at the University of Rochester? This was our question when we arrived in Rochester last weekend. Of course, we read over the Trip advisor reviews and came up with Rooney's. The reviews were pretty consistent so we figured we couldn't go wrong. Rooney's was very easy to find and... More
It's a bit expensive but well worth it. Everything I've ever had at Rooney's is outstanding. I can't review one or two meals...all I'll say is go and try them for yourself.
When I learned that we were dining at Rooney's I thought Irish pub. Couldn't have been more wrong. Very good. Hadn't been in a very long. Duck was a little over cooked for me but the texture and tenderness were so good it didn't matter. Great wine selection and knowledgeable staff. Husband had steak that was also really good. Expensive but worth it. Especially for a romantic dinner.

I ordered it medium but it was more like medium rare. It went back to the kitchen and when returned... More
In Rochester for the PGA golf championship in August and we found this jewel of a restaurant in a neighborhood. Incredible bar and bartender who said the bar was over 100 years old. We had to wait awhile for our table but there were 5 of us, all friends from Florida, and it was well worth it. From the service... More
It's been said that to find he best of Rochester, you really need a guide. Rooney's is kind of hard to find if no one takes you there, but once you find it, you'll discover one of the world-class restaurants Rochester has to offer. Menus change weekly, ingredients are locally sourced, service is professional, and the atmosphere is sublime. We... More
Spent our 28th anniversary dinner at Rooney's. Over the years we have celebrated many milestones with friends and family. Ordered crab cake appetizer, Caesar salad and Scallops. Dining room was busy but the service was prompt and professional. All the courses came out with ample time between to visit and dine. Dessert was coconut sorbet which was garnished with two... More
