My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine's Day dinner a few days before the actual holiday. They are valet parking only so plan for that. We were seated promptly for our reservation even though they were getting busy. We love restaurants like this with "older decor" - carpet, wood trim, dim. Service was exceptional. Our waiter was on point... More

I won a gift certificate for Grinnell's and was excited to give it a try. I have to be honest and say I'll never go again. It's dated in appearance and feels grimy all over. It's an old Rochester restaurant and it shows. The menu needs updating also to bring it into the 21st century. The service is good however... More

Recently went to Grinell's with friends for dinner. Delicious food! Love their artichoke French appetizer - so tender and flavorful. Their special of the night was short ribs. It was fall off the bone tender! Always love the personal touch being greeted by the owners. Bartender Chris is always friendly and attentive. Can't find a better place!

Always great to see you, Kathy! Chris and the rest of our team really appreciate your feedback about the service. We've always got different specials on the slate, so we hope you'll keep coming back to try the rest -- you're bound to find something you love just as much as the short ribs. Can't wait to see you again,... More

Grinnell's has been in business for many years and with a nice reputation. 1st it is Valet Parking only. Celebrating holiday dinner with friends. We did have a reservation for 6 and our table was ready. The restaurant is very noisy so that times it was hard to hear the person across the round table from you. Thursday was Prime... More

Sorry your visit left something to be desired, Ellen. While there's not much we can do about the noise on a busy night, it's disappointing to think your server was less attentive than they should have been -- we'll do our best to make sure our staff is more available next time. These setbacks aside, we're glad you enjoyed your... More

We enjoy the bar...great drinks made by someone that knows what it's about. The food is consistent and very good. Nobody makes a better lobster tail and the prime rib melts in your mouth! A wonderful standby with friendly knowledgeable staff...well trained and you feel as if you are dining not eating.

My wife and I ate at Grinnell's with another couple on Friday November 21st. This restaurant was one of our favorites although we hadn't been there in quite awhile. Although the restaurant was busy we were seated fairly quickly after our 7 pm reservation. Three of the four main entrees were over cooked and two were sent back as the... More

Please accept our sincere apologies for this experience, Stuart. We've tried our best to maintain the same quality service since 1961, and it's a shame to think we let things slip this time. While mistakes are bound to happen every now and then, making an entire table's order incorrectly is inexcusable -- we're very sorry, and we hope our second... More

Tried Grinnell's because have heard of it over the years living in rochester area and saw many positive reviews here on tripadvisor. Clientele, menu and decor are all quite dated. This is the place your parents went to in 1970 for a special occasion and they are still going there on a weekly basis. The menu offered nothing fresh or... More

Please allow us to apologize on your server's behalf. Accidents happen, but that's no excuse for leaving without recognizing or correcting the mistake. We're very sorry about your service, and we'll make sure to be more careful and more courteous next time. As for our atmosphere, you're not wrong. This is the kind of place your parents are still going... More

Been coming to this restaurant for many years on my visits to Rochester. Tonight I had grilled shrimp and was amazed at the size of the shrimp. They were served with melted butter just as a lobster would be and they were very good. AJ, our server was wonderful and we were very pleased with the overall experience.

Wifey and I have been going to Grinnells for over 30 years and that's because it's always fun and predictable. Rick Dimitri promises a good time and memorable experience.
