Been coming to this restaurant for many years on my visits to Rochester. Tonight I had grilled shrimp and was amazed at the size of the shrimp. They were served with melted butter just as a lobster would be and they were very good. AJ, our server was wonderful and we were very pleased with the overall experience.

Wifey and I have been going to Grinnells for over 30 years and that's because it's always fun and predictable. Rick Dimitri promises a good time and memorable experience. We were there for dinner recently and saw some familiar faces just hanging out enjoying the bar atmosphere. We joined right in and laughed a lot. So far do good, right?... More

as always, this is one of the, consistently, finest dining places in this town, or any other town for that matter. their daily specials are, always, outstanding. the host/owner is, generally, on premises and you can count a a visit to your table. the kitchen goes the extra mile to assure that your meal is prepared the way you like... Have eaten here a couple dozen times and Grinnell's never disappoints. From the moment you walk through the door David welcomes you with a smile and thanks you for coming to dine with them. Usually have a couple drinks at the bar and Chris is an excellent old fashioned bar tender. David always keeps us informed about any possible wait.... More

Grinnell's Restaurant is a long-time Rochester landmark. It's longevity is well-earned. This is the type of restaurant you can enjoy with friends and family and know that your meal will be consistently good and the service will be outstanding. Our favorites are the Prime Rib and the Scallops. The Friday fish fry is excellent as well and a good value.... More

We had dinner at Grinnell's November 6. The dinner was quite good except the veggies which were quite unexceptional. However, we waited 20 minutes for our check after dinner. That just put a damper on the evening but the attitude of the owner and the waiter were what really turned me off. They acted like we should expect to wait... More

We wanted a steakhouse that was not far from the Blue Cross Arena so we went here. We arrived at 5 and where one of the first people here. A family came in at 5:30 with nearly the whole restaurant empty they were almost turned away because they said they had so many reservations. We all got the prime rib... More

I've been puzzling about how to write a review of a place that others seem to like that is decidedly average without offending too many people. I guess it can't be done. I started to read the other reviews this morning before taking to compose my thoughts this morning on last evening's dining experience. I can appreciate the sentimentality that... More

This restaurant is among our very top favorites in Rochester! The kitchen knows about cooking - with the best of home-prepared skills and ingredients, yet gourmet in overall flair. The service is experienced, prompt, yet diners never feel rushed. Ah - and the weekly specials are especially interesting. Whether it's the prime rib, the liver and bacon or Sunday turkey... More
