While the neighborhood is a bit run down and rough, it is worth coming here. The restaurant is great...it looks like it is in a very old building and what they have done to the place makes it look great. The seating is in the basement or in an open air courtyard...each very tastefully done. Our waitress was fantastic. She... More

The food was decent and enjoyable along with the atmosphere. However I do not understand what the hype is all about I have been to much better restaurants in the rochester area. My friend thought the quail was dry and I thought the scallops where gritty. I will go back with friends and family... On their request not mine.

Just walking around this place is a tremendous experience. Had dessert and coffee on a bit of a whim and it was pretty awesome and I highly recommend. Heading back for dinner next week which im pretty excited about. I can see some people thinking it is expensive in these reviews but i disagree. When you factor in the quality... More

We hadn't been to Tapas 177 for a few years and were lured back Thursday night by our WXXI MemberCard which was about to run out for the year. Overall we really enjoyed our experience. The basement dining room has that shabby-chic vibe going with some nice music playing. On a warmer evening the courtyard would have been a perfect... More

This is going to be a "food-only" review, because I visited their exhibit at the Rochester Lilac Festival instead of getting my food inside their restaurant. Still, this place has a great reputation, and I could understand while. Their food is OUTSTANDING! Today, I sampled their crab cakes, as well as their fried spring rolls. The spring rolls were served... More

We didn't know quite what to expect of this place but decided to try it because it sounded different and interesting. There were five of us in our group (all friends attending a club meeting). We went without reservations hoping to be able to get a table. Fortunately we were early enough that tables were available. Upon entering Tapas 177... More

Visited Tapas on a Saturday night with a friend. The menu features several small plates for a table to split. Although it was a busy Saturday night the downstairs dining area was not loud. We shared the rack of lamb and I tried the Quail and baked cheese salad. Both dishes were simply amazing. The service was fantastic and our... More

Picked this restaurant for some different fair and it's proximity to the Hyatt downtown. Not much to look at from the outside or in but it was friendly. The service was very good but the food was just fair. Kinda liked the low key, 60's/70's atmosphere.
