Dined here this past Sunday evening based on a recommendation from friends. I work as a Chef in Toronto and I have to say the Owl House is a delightful experience. The food is creative yet unpretentious -considering the price. The cocktails were also superb. There's something to be admired about its simplicity. Artwork on walls did however leave something... Went to the Owl House based on the recommendation of our son (who accommodates a gluten free girlfriend). They raved. We frowned. Either the combinations were ordinary (burger- which was quite greasy) or Moosewood-1970's- odd (veggies with coconut water sauces??). Tried the shaved fennel with smoked portobellos; it was tasty, but wayyyyyy too much fennel for the very sparse (but... More

This is a unique place to eat in Rochester, if you're looking for vegan/vegetarian friendly food this is a must stop. I've only been for lunch and brunch and there is a variety in dishes, it seems like their menu is constantly changing. If you plan to go for brunch on the weekend I'd suggest calling ahead and making a... More

We were a party of 5 (3 Adults and 2 Teens) going out for dinner in Rochester. Restaurant is small in a house but don't let that fool you. We had to sit at the bar because the dining area was full but the bartender was friendly and engaged with us. Mostly vegetarian but there were choices for us meat... More

I went with a group of friends who was visiting. One of my friend friend wanted to go here. A good choice of Vegan options and glutton free options. I had bacon and waffles. It was good but they did not carry milk when I ask for that to drink that since I do not drink coffee. The coffee was... More

As one who has had my fair share of restaurant meals around the world i can say this restaurant was a nice change of pace. No pretention or showiness which is was a relief. Simple. The barman was relaxed and seemed more like he was just making some drinks for friends. Staff was very helpful, easy going. Noise level was... More

I hesitate to write this review, because I don't want everyone knowing how great this place is. Because then I'll never be able to get a reservation! Attentive staff, interesting cocktails, a stellar rotating beer menu and the food is divine.

My wife and I took a weekend away to Rochester this year and last, and the only restaurant that we repeated was The Owl House. Both times we went for lunch and found the food and atmosphere pitch perfect. It is mostly vegetarian fare but it is robust and flavorful. I really like the kale salad and the fries are... More

I liked that it offered many vegetarian and vegan options yet it also had meat choices for my husband. I like that it is in a house and very comfortable and inviting.

We have been to the Owl House several times with vegetarian friends and their ever-changing eclectic menu always has sufficient vegan / vegetarian offerings for all. The food is well prepared, fresh, and tasty - whether meat or not. Last night, however, we waited ~ 75 mins for our entrees despite telling the waiter that we had theater tickets. We... More
