I decided to take a few weeks before writing this review to let my disgust and anger settle. I was staying at the Rochester Plaza for a few days on business in June of 2014, and will NEVER return! The hotel itself is dated, and while some areas look fairly fresh, I was repulsed at others. The dining areas, specifically,... More

Did not feel like going out so ate at the Rochester Plaza hotel State Street Bar. Menu was a little brief but interesting appetizers and entrees. Had the hummus and Pita. Delish. And beef noodle soup was great. Waiter was right it was a bit salty but I liked it. My wife wouldn't have. Steak entree was perfectly cooked and... More

Worth avoiding, consider going somewhere else. Poor service and so-so food makes this a non-destination. Food is pricey for the quality. The facilities are nice and the decor is pleasant. Might be a good option if there is a snow storm keeping you in. The do have Genesee Cream Ale on tap which was good. Some happy hour special were offered.

We rushed downstairs 15 minutes before closing but they did take our order. Then we were informed that the kitchen had made a mistake on the order and we were given a huge discount.

Though the food was good, as you enter the venue there is a sign to wait to be seated yet no one there for 10 minutes so sat ourselves down. Service a bit scattered as if the person was very new. She was unable to give a bill as the "system" was down. Could not even give us an estimate... More

The State Street Bar & Grille had an unexpected, varied & WONDERFUL menu! I had the grilled vegetable salad, which was excellent...as was the coffee!

This restaurant has the potential to be much more than it is now. With the near absence of family restaurants in downtown Rochester there is an opportunity to draw in more customers. Instead it seems as though the restaurant management has decided that it has a captive audience and consequently does not feel it necessary to offer better service. The... More

We checked out the menu online before going downstairs to eat this restaurant. The menu we received, however, was exactly the same as the room service menu. It was a dirty paper menu that was crinkled with water and food stains. (On the other hand - the menu on the website was a handsome 4 page PDF file!!) We asked... More
