Great local place that has been run b the same family for more than my 50 years. Great breakfasts and burgers. Old time icecream sodas, egg creams, etc. Very pretty inside, origional tin ceilings, tile floors, etc.

I love eating at the Star everythime I go to Riverhead. It is like stepping back in time with the wooden booths lining both sides of the walls. The food is really good and still reasonable. Wonderful fresh lemonade!

While "Star Confectionery" is its real name, we all know it as "Papa Nicks" in deference to the grandfather of the current owner, Anthony. He's third generation and he keeps up a proud tradition. When I first lived in Riverhead in 1967, Papa Nick was still running the show, albeit with the considerable support of his two sons, Pete and... More

Definitely feels like you're in an early 20th century soda fountain. We had breakfast, which was very good. My wife had pancakes and they were good. I had eggs & bacon -- but they served premade cubed potatoes instead of real hand-cut fried home-fries. This is obviously a local hang-out, which gave it more of that "flavor" from a simpler,... My husband looked this place up after we had visited the CMEE museum in Sag Harbor. He said it was one of the oldest soda shops on the island or something like that. So when we visited the aquarium, we planned to go here. We almost didn't make it b/c they only take cash- so we left sadly, not wanting... More

Cute little spot for breakfast or lunch and the best place around to get handmade Easter candy. Be sure to check out the homemade dark chocolate covered marshmallows when you go to pick up your chocolate rabbits, my mouth is watering just thinking about them!

Visiting Riverhead, I walked down the rather dreary main street to find somewhere to have a quick lunch. Looking into the front door of Star Confectionary, I was struck by memories of my childhood when places like Woolworths had counter service. The food here is a lot better than what I remembered about places like that. I ordered an egg... More
