Every sip of their Vanilla shake makes me feel like I'm 7 again, enjoying the taste for what it is...vanilla! I brought my 25 year old Son with me yesterday, which was the first time I'd eaten here in over a year or more. I had my usual Cheeseburger Deluxe with Fries and a Shake. My son Dave had a... More

Order the "famous French toast". I guess it's famous w for lacking flavor and being flat like pancakes. Took 40 minutes to get toast and waitress was put out when I asked about meal. Had to ask for coffee to be refilled. Sad all the way around but inside of restraunt was cute. Stay away unless you want average

We were looking for a place to have breakfast in Riverhead and chose this restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews. The breakfast was very good - pancakes and their "famous" French toast. The service was good and the prices very reasonable. The food was nothing different than we could have had in any nearby diner for a similar price but... More

Great local place that has been run b the same family for more than my 50 years. Great breakfasts and burgers. Old time icecream sodas, egg creams, etc. Very pretty inside, origional tin ceilings, tile floors, etc.

I love eating at the Star everythime I go to Riverhead. It is like stepping back in time with the wooden booths lining both sides of the walls. The food is really good and still reasonable. Wonderful fresh lemonade!

While "Star Confectionery" is its real name, we all know it as "Papa Nicks" in deference to the grandfather of the current owner, Anthony. He's third generation and he keeps up a proud tradition. When I first lived in Riverhead in 1967, Papa Nick was still running the show, albeit with the considerable support of his two sons, Pete and... More

Definitely feels like you're in an early 20th century soda fountain. We had breakfast, which was very good. My wife had pancakes and they were good. I had eggs & bacon -- but they served premade cubed potatoes instead of real hand-cut fried home-fries. This is obviously a local hang-out, which gave it more of that "flavor" from a simpler,...
