Had a great lunch with four friends , much better than we were expecting . Very friendly staff who served excellent food at a good price . We all went for the traditional American burgers which were possibly the best I've tasted anywhere in the last few years . Would definitely visit again

Popped into this odd little restaurant / bar tucked away on a quiet street in Riverhead looking for a late lunch . Served by a couple of lovely women who sounded like extras from the Soprano's . The menu choice was extensive and the food quality excellent . Total bill for 5 came in at less than $65 incl drinks... More

This is just one of those local "go to" places...not the least bit trendy or fancy - just good food, good prices, very nice people. Birchwood is in the heart of Riverhead's "Polish Town" so you can guess what some of the menu offerings are but there are plenty of other choices.

Good food at good prices. Not much atmosphere, but worth visiting. Try the German specialties. You'll like them.

A very nice atmosphere with two fireplaces. Always packed for Sunday Brunch. Special Eggs Benedict's are offered with sides such as asparagus. Start off with homemade bread and jelly while you wait. Fresh fish dishes are always on the menu as well as entree salads. The homemade desserts are wonderful. A little pricey but very nice. Friendly wait staff, management... More

I go to this resturant about once a year and most of the time i have a good expierence. Last year was not. The wait staff was didn't want to be bothered and never came back to the table after the food was served. However this year it was A number one. Friendly service, tasty food, and seperate checks all... More

I went to this restaurant one other time, and I don't remember being so disgusted. The place smelled like mold. The potato pancakes were basically like McDonalds hashbrowns. The perogies were the frozen kind you find in your local grocery store. The golumpki basically had no flavor other then tomato sauce. My mom makes golumpki (stuffed cabbage) and it is... More
