This was the oddest place I've ever stayed. Liked it, but not for everyone. Clean, but entropic! The entire place-including the restaurant was chaos! Staff was not very friendly, food mediocre, but the place itself was so interesting-it was insane!!!

We had a really lovely time at the Lake House this evening. We haven't gone there for years, but decide to give it a try with Chef Michael Gregory now running the kitchen. We were not disappointed. It's definitely a quirky place, but it was clean and the staff was incredibly warm and friendly. Most importantly we had really good... More

My daughter and I found this place by accident and are glad we did. I admit it is a bit of a quirky place. You will either love it or hate it. It kind of looks like your crazy aunts house. It is definitely old and dark inside. There are bric a brac everywhere. We loved it. It is a... More

The food wasn't to bad but the waitress was not very good at all. The bill was 281 including the tip we tipped on the bill plus tip left 60 dollar tip what a rip off never will go back. Owner just was like oh well. I will let every one I know what a rip off this place is.... More

CHEF GREGORY, no longer at the high profile Otesaga hotel restaurants, is off to a promising beginning at the old Lake House Restaurant in Richfield Springs ("Making Memories since 1843," as the business card proudly puts it). The restaurant is really dark, really old, and has the slightly funky flavor of a lakeside house that has gotten knocked about by... More

Both my wife son and I stop by after visiting cooperstown. The website talked the place up but when you get inside you start scratching your head. The good reviews on this place must be written while they are still drunk from the night before because that is the only way you can enjoy the place. The do have a... More

The rooms in this place were amazing, as we stayed here for the weekend. Love all the knotty pine ceilings and walls. Bedroom are very quaint. Gives you that homey feeling. However, as soon as we walked in the door, it smelled like cat pee as well as the up stairs social area. I don't know if this is because... More

On this visit we were seated on the back porch but a bit bothered by bugs and the cats sharing our dining area. We were one of three tables that evening and were virtually ignored by our waitress, who took forever and two requests before bringing water, then completely forgot our salads which after reminding her had to come after... We had both lunch and dinner there- luckily it was warm enough in October to enjoy lunch on the deck outside. We had a Tex-Mex lunch with quesadillas and chimichangas- margaritas for the grown-ups and Saranac bottled sodas for the kids- it was just great.

We were very surprised at the seafood choices so three of us had the seafood platter and one had the strip steak dinner. All our food was hot and delicious. Our waitress was Christine and she did a great job and gave us some nice tips on where to go, like the golf course which was excellent also.
