We were on our way from Albany to Hyde Park to visit the FDR Museum and stopped in Rhinebeck for lunch. We were delighted to find Terrapin. We sat outside enjoying the Spring sunshine. I had a sandwich made with the organic, house roasted turkey and my husband ordered the eggplant sandwich. We shared and both were delicious. The salad... More

We had lunch outside. The wait staff was excellent and the tapas and beverages we had were fine, but very overpriced. Not a place a believe children would enjoy.

This is a nice place for tapas and plates. Whatever you order ask for the wasabi aioli to dip in. It's is incredibly delicious. It was a beautiful day but we opted to sit in the Bistro because the outdoor seating was very tight. It would be nicer if everyone had a little extra room out there. I had the... More

Located in what looks like a former church that has been tastefully reconfigured, Terrapin offers a nice range of unusual menu choices for the discerning diner. The chef clearly takes pride in creative and attractive offerings, and wait staff is trained to the hilt in describing it. Service is super polite and efficient. Our only reservation was the cost, which... More

On a college tour with my sone, we were staying in Rhinebeck, NY and this place popped up in Open Table. Excellent reviews and pretty case by (15 minutes) we made a reservation The service was great, very comfortable place inside and old church. Nice selection of food inclining "Tapas" so you could try outs of different items. Everything was... More

Great selection for meat eaters and vegetarians. Fun hip vibe with interesting art work. $11 for a cocktail seems steep to me. The salad with the goat cheese wontons was delicious. The mac 'n cheese was very rich; the thai soup (cup) could have used more salt. The bill came to $55 - seems a bit high.

First time visit makes us want to go back. Good service, great food. Salads, tuna, short ribs; all excellent. We sat in the dining room but they have a more casual bistro as well. Our waiter who Was the only waiter in the dining room on a Thursday evening was efficient but running ragged. We asked the "bus boy" to... More

While Terrapin is very popular, I found it to be overpriced for the portions received. Food is good, not exceptional. Tiny appetizers...don't go there to fill up on them. Bar on the other hand is very good, nice drink offerings, not watered down. Guess they figure if you drink enough you won't mind overpaying.

Food was fantastic, though some of the entree portions were enormous (could not take any doggie bags as we were visiting from out-of-town). The service was equal to the quality of the food, resulting in a totally satisfying dinner. We loved the fact that the food was largely local and, as far as any meat was concerned, humanely sourced. The... More
