The food is uniquely prepared and even familiar favorites like a braised beef are prepared so well that comfort food soars to a new level. Be prepared for a pocket book emptying though. This superior level of service and food is not inexpensive.

The food here is some of my favorites. Have dined in the restaurant once, a decade ago--the food brought comfort and pleasure when I was spending the time with a not so nice dinner companion, and the attentive waiter did his best to cheer me up. More recently, I have enjoyed the bistro. A great gnocchi dish and a duck... More

My husband and I spent a couple of days around the Poughkeepsie area to visit Hyde Park and the Culinary Institute of America. We ventured to the town of Rhinebeck for dinner. Because very few restaurants are open on Monday in this adorable village, we were left with few choices. After some research and a suggestion from a local, we... More

The setting for this restaurant is beautiful. Nice interior, looking forward to dining here. The waitress clearly was not happy we had wo children, neither did the gentleman in charge. It took a long time to get drinks, and, I felt the wine was NYC prives for a glass.was very attentive to our every need. It was he who even told us what dessert... More

Terrapin was excellent. Menu items were off the beaten path, but ingredients came together to form a delicious meal. We had the fig quesadilla, and it was astounding. Not your typical quesadilla! Loved it and will be back!

Terrapin has a great vibe. As an old converted church, it offers a really unique space which is sizable and airy. The bar feels very modern and is quite large. The service is solid and meets expectations for the price point. The menu is large, perhaps even a bit over-ambitious, but not all that unusual. The portions are really generous.... More

This past weekend my niece graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. To celebrate, we dined in beautiful Rhinebeck, NY at the Terrapin. It came recommended to by the four gentlemen chatting on a park bench (picture Floyd's barbershop) near Bread Alone, another treat! My CIA niece agreed Terrapin was great spot and the chef was a CIA alum. Delicious!... More

Very trendy spot in a converted church. Very good food and nice wait staff. A bit on the noisy side on a Saturday night though.

We were passing through on a day trip to Hyde Park. Asked a local store owner where to eat and she heartily recommended Terrapin. We ate on the Bistro side and had a delightful meal. Hubby and I shared a salad and a pasta dish. I have to eat gluten free, so we ordered the GF option. I expected it... More
