Good, honest, reasonable food in an expensive town

Foster's is an anomaly in tony Rhinebeck where expensive food catered to the rich and semi-rich is the norm. Here you will find a delicious Rueben, shrimp parmagiana sandwich, decent burgers and other regular lunch fare for less than $10. They also other a balanced menu of traditional American... read more

Every time I'm in the area, I come here. I'm mildly obsessed with horses and the horse/racing theme throughout makes me love it even more. The food is always wonderful and the atmosphere (inside or outside) is welcoming and comfortable. It's also in a great tourist location with a bunch of shops. Do recommend.

I was exploring Rhinebeck after my trip to the Rhinebeck Aerodome, when my boyfriend and I spotted this restaurant and stopped in for a lunch. We sat outside and ordered sandwiches, a beer, and a margarita. The waitstaff was wonderful, the food and the drinks were great. The margarita was delicious, the only thing missing was kosher salt on the... More

I was first introduced to Foster's Coach House by my parents about 40 years ago at approximately age 10 (we lived just across the Hudson from this landmark restaurant). When I was able to drive in my teens, I used this venue as a nice affordable choice for dates. Eventually, work and relocation took me elsewhere and I had few... More

I have been going to Fosters since I was a child. It is located in a restored Coach station so, if you like you can eat in an old horse stall. I went the other day and although they don't serve free popcorn any longer (a big draw for me in my childhood) The food is still very good and... More

Fried clams and veal parmigiana were first-rate. Pleasant service. Great old place. Lots of local color.

Easy place to grab a pub style lunch. Bar and dinning area are a bit dark for my taste but the patio was fabulous!

Large group for dinner and had variety of sandwiches and specials. Food was served quickly and well presented. The wait staff was friendly and informative. Would recommend for casual night with friends for food and adult beverages!

A friend recommended us to book our event which was a birthday here at Fosters because of the big room downstairs and the good food. we are so glad we did! We had a group of about 25 people which fit nicely in the large room! Our waitresses, two young blondes were above and beyond our expectations! They were quick... More

The first clue was the inattentive waitstaff engaged in a huddle. Then the wise guy in the kitchen sent back charred string beans 20 minutes later when I sent back undercooked ones when I had requested "soft". No apologies or adjustments made on the bill. And the prices have gone up considerably. No longer a good value. Sad. We have... More
