All to often, we; I, tend to only submit reviews only when traveling yet overlook the very places that make living in my area, NY's Hudson Valley, a most wonderful experience on a daily basis. Mercato - Osteria & Enoteca is just that place. Chef Buitoni wouldn't have it any other way. He clearly enjoys preparing the most delicious Italian... More

The room is warm, the reception inviting, the service cordial, friendly, and professional. The food is as fresh, regional, and delicious as you will find in Italy, where i travel every year. The tables are plenty big, and well spaced. There is just nothing about this place that you cannot like...

This restaurant does not merit an Excellent but it is better than Very Good. I have eaten here many times and I always look forward to going when I am in the region. It is great to eat food from a kitchen that could be in New York City but is in a lovely country environment. The chef understands the... More

I have never had a meal there I did not love. The only drawbacks are that you really need a reservation and it is rather pricey for most locals to go to. But well worth the price.

This restaurant is located on the outskirts of the small village of Red Hook, in the Hudson River Valley.. not a place where we would have expected to have one of the best meals ever. Atmosphere is very cozy and service was excellent. Food was superb! Very relaxing and delicious to the last cup of coffee. Innovative menu, prepared to... More

Cozy, charming and delicious. We have been back twice. The food is a play on Italian. We went for dinner one night, and last summer sat outside for lunch.

Mercato is in the tiny town of Red Hook and close to Bard College. I live in Brooklyn and can say with certainty that this restaurant would hold its own in my neighborhood. I like the casual homey environment; I'd call it shabby romantic...and I mean that in the best possible way. Every dish was excellent. The cheese selection was... More

Looking at the 26 food rating on Zagat, I was expecting more. The simple front room was pleasant at first when it wasn't full, but became overwhelmingly loud and warm as the meal progressed and every table filled. Service was quite mediocre - our original waiter was seemingly randomly replaced by others we had to flag down. I think the... More

My boyfriend wanted to take me out to dinner for my birthday to a place we had not previously dined. We heard from a couple of friends that Mercato's was equivalent to an upscale NYC restaurant in the country and the food was superb. I went online and researched reviews and found the ratings to have an almost 50/50 rating.... More

The food here is good, but service is so so. The wine menu is terrible. I would expect better from an "Italian restaurant". I hoped for more authentic flavors and food selections, nothing really sets it apart. But overall the food is decent and I would return.
