This place is a special treat for sure. The food is fantastic (try the brisket) and the local wine and beer list leaves no stone unturned. Great manager too.

The ribs and grits as well as the chicken gumbo were good,but the kale and chili were just ok. There were nice local beer options.

Always enjoy our visits to Max's. Food is super, service is outstanding and always have a doggy bag for lunch in a day or two. Nothing more to add, have to go to enjoy the meals

On our first visit we had hot wings and they were delish. This time pulled pork sandwich + cheesy grits. Very yummy food. Super friendly and accommodating staff. Fast service. Nice clean place in Red Hook.

I've eaten at Max's about five or six times over the years. It's a great room with great staff. The bbq is lousy. Really, just lousy.

Last year we enjoyed a great meal of ribs and brisket. We returned this month and found the place busy. Seating was quick and our drinks arrived soon after. Not only does Max's have terrific food, barbecue and otherwise, but for a large, busy restaurant it is amazingly well-run. Efficient and friendly, you never feel hurried, but you never have to wait long either. Just a great place.

It's hard to find decent food in Red Hook. If you like barbecue they do it with good service and service. Very consistent. Very well run.
