Description: Installed in a building once occupied by a Golden Era clothing store, M. Schwartz, The Artist’s Palate restaurant has brought back life to Main Street in Poughkeepsie. Designers have reworked the interior space of the 70-seat dining room to combine cosmopolitan elegance with an edgy industrial accent. Like the décor, the menu showcases innovation: An extensive array of wines, handcrafted beers and unique cocktails complement our revolving seasonal menu. The lunch menu is available for delivery within the city from 11am-2:30pm. As its name suggests, The Artist’s Palate treats food as art, introducing new flavor combinations to local and regional diners. What is more, the restaurant gallery is committed to showcasing the best of up-and-coming local artists in a revolving exhibition. When it opened in 2006, the restaurant was quickly lauded by local and regional restaurant critics and discerning diners. The Artist’s Palate has fast become a Dutchess County institution.

The salad that accompanied my quesadilla was excellent: the greens were varied and very fresh; the dressing was light and lively; and the quantity was just right. The tortilla for the duck quesadilla was just fine....the big problem was that in each quarter of the quesadilla there were only three tiny morsels of (overcooked) duck. Skimpy is what it was.... Had a very enjoyable lunch with some friends. Our waiter was fabulous with warm and attentive service. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, quite nice yet relaxed and unpretentious. I ordered off of the lunch special menu, having the Asparagus, Potato and Leak Soup to start, which was excellent. The Southwestern Chicken Panini as my main, which was satisfyingly tasty... More

This restaurant had artwork of varied styles hung on the wall that made for a sort of hipster atmosphere, the food was great (we tried several appetizers and for dinner had some tasty entrees), and the staff was delighted to serve. It was an enjoyable evening.

I am saddened to say we had another disappointing meal here. The worst part is our last meal which was not very good was better than this meal. I knew there was a reason I kept putting off going here and now I know why. Before we moved to the area we used to visit and had dined here twice... More

Good food. Great waitress. Enjoyable experience. I am a chocolate nut...so I was a little critical of the triple chocolate item on the dessert menu. It was ok. Next time i'll go for the crem brulee.

This little restaurant is plain inside but the food is spectacular. The wine list is varied and wonderful. A little pricy but very much worth it. Take your time.

Had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant at the recommendation of The Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa just across the Hudson River. The ambience is upscale yet comfortable and has an open kitchen with delicious aromas filling the space. Chef Megan is very warm, engaging and clearly loves what she does - creating unique combinations of flavors with beautiful presentation... More

It was Christmas Eve and our other choices for dining out were booked. We'd always wanted to try The Artist's Palate so we called. Success ! My son and his wife were particularly happy as they had wanted to book the place, based on its rave reviews, for their rehearsal dinner only to discover that it was too small. On... More

Steak was raw, and the wait staff copped an attitude when we requested a more well done piece, chicken was undercooked, risotto was hard & undercooked, the veggies were almost raw, chocolate lava cake tasted like cheap baking chocolate (& I couldn't find the lava). The wait staff was disorganized: we were almost finished eating and then they brought salt &... More

I must say that once we had a waitress who was pleasant and the food was good. But then, when we returned, there was this miserable waitress whose attitude ruined our dinner, well, the truth is that the dinner was very badly prepared. The portion was tiny. It seems that whenever there is a holiday, the Artist's Palate does not... More
