Excellent food and a fun atmosphere

We were on our way to New York City and stay a night in Poughkeepsie. We decided to have dinner here and had a great meal. The chicken scampi was excellent as was the drink the Drunken Pumpkin. Great cocktail. The walls were covered with pictures of stars from the 50s and 60s. Would... read more

My husband and I drove to Poughkeepsie to try this place out. I had read that their fried chicken was the best. Hell, gotta try that! So, uh oh. The place is in an old strip mall. Second clue, their menu is way, way too big. Sigh. Deciding to be undeterred, we gave it a shot. I ordered the honey... More

This food is so good, that it might be better than your moms. I'm talking about a full menu of great tasting treats.... When I started coming here I wanted to keep it my secret spot. That's not fair to Ken Hallet the owner I told myself so.... I'll tell a few of my group and they were raving about... More

Diner food... Waitresses that won't leave you alone. The place reminds me of an episode of hoarders and one of the waitresses had on really weird sparkly costume jewelry which really didnt seem age appropriate. Food is way to pricy for the value. Good place to take your grandmother but not for anyone under 65 years old. Will not be... More

We have been going to the South Side Cafe for a while now. Always great food and friendly service. The booths are nice and cozy offering you a little private area of the restaurant just for you. We have never had a bad dinner there. Often times it is too much food and we always laugh when we get the... More

The South Side Cafe has been a staple in the Poughkeepsie area for years. This is a family owned restaurant that puts the customer, and quality of food first. The owner (Kenny) is ALWAYS there and makes it a point to speak to each customer to assure you are happy with your meal and service. The menu has numerous offerings... More

This is a charming, fairly new restaurant with an American menu. Hubby loved the meatloaf; I was in the mood for a reuben sandwich. We loved them both.

This place is quirky and adorable and the food is just wonderful. They say they make food like your mother made, but I would add - only if your mother was an excellent cook! Each table has a "theme" and is kept somewhat separate from the other tables, so it's like having a private room. Everything we have had here... More

Southside's food is great! Best place for warm homemade soup on a cold day, and the service is great, too!

We have been to South Side Restaurant many times. We love the fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. This is the place to go for basic comfort food and very friendly service (and no need to dress up at this place). Out of everything we've tried there, we highly recommend their fried chicken, chicken wings, chili, and French onion... More
