I've always liked the Beech Tree in Poughkeepsie, but after my experience on July 4th weekend, I won't be returning. The waitress was nasty to use the entire time. We waited for a long time to order & then our food also took a long time. When we ordered beer samples, she asked us if we just wanted to get... More

've been a patron of the beech tree for almost a decade. It started out before the rise of the bistro boom and has always had great food. Those standards have never dropped. But the people who wait, seat, and bus tables are atrocious. Unfriendly, look at you then walk by, never refill a drink, never drop the check, seem... More

This place is always packed and the meal is always excellent. Even the salad is amazing. We usually get the steak, but there are many other excellent options. I enjoy the beer sampler, as they often have unusual beers and will change the samples from time to time. Service is great. The proximity to Vassar College and the local park... More

This place was a pleasant surprise. Have many craft beers on tap and very good prices for them! We went as a party of 4. The place is a bit small and squished but it did us just fine. We had the fresh mozzarella and calamari for the appetizer....DELICIOUS! The calamari could have been a little more cooked but that's... More

We arrived late to the area and just wanted something light to eat. This restaurant seemed to be the most popular as most tables were filled- menu offered nice variety, service was great, and food was good- what more could we ask for?

Beech Tree offers a casual atmosphere with simply wonderful food! This is, without a doubt, my "go-to" choice of restaurant in the Poughkeepsie area when I want to have dinner out with a glass of wine. It's small and casual, right across the street from Vassar College. A bar takes up one side of the room, and tables for 2,... More

great food ... great choices ... simple yet complex. it's been a go-to place for almost 20 years. but not now. it's unfortunate ... devastating ... that the servers have made the place so unwelcoming and uncomfortable. need to find a new place where customers are wanted and respected.

I had visited this restaurant some years ago (4+) when I remembered it to be more tame. The night I went for dinner, there was a group of obnoxious people who had come from a wedding and were getting quite rowdy while watching the World Series. I really didn't appreciate hearing all the cursing and yelling while eating my meal.... More

Beech Tree has a very small menu with daily specials. The beer and wine list is huge for such a small venue.Tonight I had the lamb loin chops and was pleasantly surprised to receive 3 chops with a huge side of roasted, cubed potatoes, beets, zucchini and spinach. The reduced red wine sauce was very tasty and the chops were... More

Exposed brick, great location in the heart of the Vassar College scene. Culinary chef's preparing amazing food. Extensive beer and wine selection. This was my regular place to go and eat when I lived in NY. Great value for what you get. Flavorful food. Super cool place to patrionize.
