Brasserie 292 combines the old-world charm of Poughkeepsie's historic Main Street district with a timeless, classic Brasserie fare. Diners can choose from a menu that boasts an impressive range of selections, from our Raw Bar to the Prime Boneless Ribeye, and includes a diverse wine and beer list. Once a popular garment destination, our inviting dining room has been transformed into a spacious haven that can accommodate over 80 people. Very classy and romantic place!

Walking into this restaurant is like being in Paris in the 1920s. You expect to see Hemingway and Fitzgerald in the next red leather booth over. The cocktail menu is excellent- several specialty drinks with unusual liqueurs and fruit mixes. Classic French dinner menu, duck, steak, roast... read more

How lucky we were to find this adorable Brasserie! Food and service were top-notch. Was one of the highlights as we toured Hyde Park/Poughkeepsie area. Wish we had something like this nearby.

First, enjoy a drink at the bar. Not many places have a real expert bartender or menu with some of the classic cocktails anymore, but Brasserie 292 does. Can't remember the last time I've seen a Blood & Sand cocktail on a menu (try it, it's great). The food was also very well done. Classic French Bistro menu with frites... More

The interior is fantastic and looks like a seriously stylish bistro in Paris. Sadly, the decor trumps the food. First my server upended the bottle of mineral water over me, then the first course was Onion Soup Gratinée, which was okay but tasted like a beef stock with onions added. Next course was Pappardelle: pulled short rib braised with root... More

WE had bee here before and enjoyed the food although I thought overpriced for Poughkeepsie. We thought we would go back again. This time there was a show at the Bardavon which is around the corner. First we were told on the phone they would take the reservation but we had to be out by 6:45. WE arrived a half... More

Mary, I'm sorry that your dining experience fell short of a 5 star review on that busy Saturday evening. I must apologize again to you and your husband for being seated at a table that was not to your liking, and for your having felt mistreated. At Brasserie 292 we allot a certain amount of time for each reservation's dining... More

Stopped in at 5:00 on Saturday with no reservation. The hostess was able accommodated us, but I definitely would recommend reservations. The inside is beautiful and inviting. The food was well worth the trip. It's a high end menu with service and prices to match. 2 drinks, 2 apps, 2 entrees and a tasting sample dessert ran $125 before tip.... More

My son and friend took me here for a belated birthday dinner. I had the steak frites and both of them had the duck confit. The service was excellent and the food outstanding! My steak was done perfectly and the béarnaise was a nice touch. For dessert we shared the caramelized banana tart - decadent and delicious! I highly recommend... More

Five of us were there for dinner on a Wednesday night, which was a little quiet. Service was great, I had the roasted cod, great dish, someone used imagination to come up with that one. My wife had the steak au poivre, she said hers was a bit salty. Great wine and beer selection. Located in a very nice old... More

Just had lunch at Brasserie 292 and it was great. It's very quiet at the lunch hour which made for a good place for a lunch meeting. The steak and frites were delicious. The Bearnaise not that great though, but the steak didn't need it. I like my food salty, and it is salty so if you don't like it... More

Food is excellent. Sunday brunch has dollar oysters if you get there in time. Good jazz, too, but quite hard to hear the group. Downtown seems a bit dicey at night, so we prefer the brunches. And they have GREAT fries! Bar steak is always a good choice.
